Meddlesome Priests

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby shahmaran » Wed Jan 24, 2007 3:03 am

wow somebody had a bad day!

Sorry Pete man, i didnt realize we annoyed you THAT much, there is always the option of NOT READING, but hey its a free world :) so much emotion in that post

i have to say that i do actually have other things to do, but all involving computers, so it is quite convenient to check these posts frequently.

However, you telling other people off on the internet is not exactly the most constructive thing to do either (when you could be saving african kids in that time  ), specially when you take it up onto yourself to give people you know nothing about, advice on how to live their lives, what to do with their time, and calling them "fucks", its pretty patronizing actually, and extremely bloody USELESS!

We could always go and recycle the same old jokes over and over again on the jokes section.

You're right - I was out of order. I apologise for any offence I might have caused any of you guys. Yes, you are correct I had a bad day yesterday and to some extent I was letting off steam. But that isn't an excuse.

However, at least while you guys are having a go at me you are not having a go at each other... and so maybe there is good things to be said for my post from this respect! :)

But my point - which admittedly I got a bit more worked up about than I would like - remains.

I honestly think that people here just spend too much time giving out negative vibes, and attacking each other. Nothing said on this forum - which is just anonymous words on the internet - actually changes anything. In fact, it doesn't even change anyones point of view. So you all just endlessly bicker at each other all the time, and it must take a fair amount of time.

I truly think that if more people devoted more time to some of things i mentioned, doing some good, then the world would be a better place. I include myself in this: I do not do enough for others, we could all do more.

And it is true that I have been posting in the jokes section quite a bit lately.... but at least those posts will make people laugh (or maybe cringe!) and are hopefully seen as more positive than all the negative slanging matches that go on in this section of the forum.

True, I do not have to read it. But sometimes I look in to see some new posts and then end up start to read the same old sh!te, and it is just so demoralising and negative.

But by all means, carry on abusing me instead if you wish. Then at least for a while you can all be buddies together (I'm big enough to take it!) and at least if you can't give it a rest, give it a change for a while... :?:

Come down Pete_D...you are right in few things but you know sometimes it’s good for us...or if you please for young people...to listen or read stories from those who lived that time all this facts. I supposed you are British so you do not live or ever lived in Cyprus. For many of us here it’s our day life. We have to face that every day. So I do not think that this forum or this section is so wrong. Sometimes doesn’t look so civilised but when you have so many people and so many views and experience you can easily loose your control. Personally I think that I can learn many things from those people…it doesn’t mean that I am going to change my opinions but its good when you can listen the same story from both sides.

Hi LENA, all I am saying is that all too many times it just turns into one big slagging match between people, which nobody can say is being very productive. Listening to each side and views is fine, but it never stays like that - as I said before, the note to "keep it civilized" is ignored by some participants.

But as I said above, I had a long and difficult day yesterday... which at times - for various reasons which I will not discuss on a public forum - was quite... emotional.

And so I have apologised for letting my emotions get the better of me in the way I chose to express my opinions.

And yes, you have "guessed" correctly: I am British.

And i totally aggree with you too Lena :)

Better here than on the streets hey!

Im in such an aggreeble mood today

To be honest im reluctant to discuss this stuff with people face to face as it never ends up to be very pleasant, i rather not discuss politics nor religion with people, so instead i do it here :)

:) :) :) I am glad that I am not the only one!!! Those discussions some times can create a fight even among friends. Better here that in case you get excited the only thing that you might do is to turn off your pc

You have to post your opinions too to have a discussion...and some times few of the things that you read are so importunate that you want to answer back to that person. As I said this section is quite sensitive especially to Cypriots (G&T) that you can easily loose your control.

And yes, you have "guessed" correctly: I am British.
