Turkish Speaking Cypriots are a minority in the North

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

The official TRNC figures are reportedlyaround 264,000 citizens, excluding the soldiers, the students, and the seasonal workers.
My guesstimate is that only about 65,000 of these are the real TCypriots (those born in Cyprus before 1974 or those with one parent born in Cyprus before 1974).

BK, no disrespect but your calculations are way off the mark. I travel to the TRNC every 6 to 10 weeks. I visit all the island and spend time with people of all walks of life.

If your figures are correct then wherever I visit I should see a ratio of 4 settlers to one TC. I have never been in an environment where settlers would outnumber the TC's except on construction sites.

I suggest you visit your country, get to know the facts and its people a little better before you make assumptions.

As they say "assumption is the mother of all f***ups".

In other words any guess will do as we really have no idea
\

anyway my post was to express a sense of regret that even if TSC's are equal number to settlers is really quite sad because I fail to see how it this whole business has protected them. And it is sad for all Cyprus as part of its identity is slowly fading ....... sorry but that is how I see it. I guess it is all part of change, growth and human evolution.

No need to get the numbers guys, perhaps I need some hypnotherapy sessions to erase any Cypriot memory and let things go their own way. I feel really frustarted that we cannot get it together and get the people together.

Perhaps in order to protect the "Cypriot Species" which are the "real" TC's and GC's from extinction, is to start cross breeding with each other, otherwise, in 50 years, there won't be any "real" Cypriots left in Cyprus.

Now you are talking,Kikapu...This is another one of my pet projects. When we have our Independent Paphian Republic of West Cyprus, people will only be allowed to marry someone from the "other" side, for a specified period of time, probably 25 years...And to make everyone feel welcome gay and lesbian couples will be allowed to marry and adopt children,or have them by artificial insemination, just like heterosexual couples. As long as it is with someone from the "other" community of course... :D

I found this on the internet.

The Evaluation of the Results of the Census
According to the tentative 30 April 2006 Census the De-Facto population
growth of the TRNC is %31.7 from December 1996 (9 years and 4 months
time period) and the number of population increased from 200,587 to 264,172
tentative number. The details and exact results of this increase which will be
stated in six months time will not only includ the permament resident
population (De-Jure population) but also the increase of the population who
are living in the country for turism, work and etc.

So my guesstimate of 264,000 was not far off the mark...
Now,how will be know how many of these are original TCs???
Could my guesstimate of 65,000 be also close to the mark,I wonder...
