Turkish Speaking Cypriots are a minority in the North

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

VP have you become totally nuts?

Man you are the one whos nuts we are talking BBF with 2 states north and south....not unitary which is not on the table. What we are trying to do is create a level playing field with equal benefit for all you have a state we have state, everyone choses where they want to live north or south, no armies, internatinal airport on both sides etc etc....

Will the EU Aquis supersede the law of the 2 states? (Remember you said same level playing field- i hope you don't change the rules now)
If yes then I accept, if no I don't accept.

It depends if you are talking blanket applicaiton of the Aquis which for many joining states has derrogations and if it goes against our own constitiution and political and internal structure. Each isssue would have to be revised and addressed according to both GCs and TCs needs equally.

Do you guys really think that in United Cyprus with Federal government and two states in EU that the governance of both states would be very different from that of any other EU country. The EU sets a bench mark. Anyway who cares whethere the prime minister is of a TSC back ground? He too is a human being.

Let us return to our homes and I couldn't care less who was living next door to me or who was managing the state (so long they didn't play loud music and annoyed my peace and quiet that I require to meditate)

Fortunately the Sadam's of this world are a minority and I doubt that in 2007 Cyprus there would be a chance of having one of those. And if Mr talat was to govern one of the States I wouldn't mind that. He is doing the best within his limits tho I think he could be doing better like any one of us.

While Rome burns...

JUst wanted to let you guys know that the Cyprus problem was solved for one old TC yesterday. A distant relative of my mother's,a simple man of the land, who had to leave his country of birth before 1974,and longed to return to his village all his life in Australia, died of a masssive stroke.
But not before he made his pilgrimage last year to his little village of Kios/Istinco in the hills near Polis, but was unable to locate the plot of land on which his house stood because no landmark he recognised remained standing.
I wonder if he died of a broken heart???And is this the best solution most of us can look forward to?

I was born on in the year that the ROC was born and have had no peace with the island all my life. I hope the man you are referring to can take with him a memory of better times before all this shit happened and he was able to find those times in his heart before he passed away.
