Sylvia do you want to just use internet on the phone or to use the mobile as a modem? GPRS is slow for most things. You will need 3G but the coverage is not that great.

Does Cyta provide 3G coverage? I thought it was only Areeba?

(Not that I know what 3G is but I know I can have 'vision' calls on it using my phone!)

3G offers you very high mobile data rates for now it is up to 384kbps (DSL is usaually 1000kbps), with GPRS(normal mobile phone) you will get a maximum of about 40kbps.

Both Areeba and CYTA cover the cities of Cyprus with 3G, of course Areeba's data services are far better because they do not require you to have a differnet account for Internet and are cheaper as they offer 30 pounds a month unlimited acccess. You can use internet straight away.

With CYTA you need to have a separate internet connection and their 3G network is very new so it is not stable yet and they only charge per volume.

your best bet would be to buy a data card and put it on your laptop for 3G/GPRS

I saw an ad by TIM on Nova Greece that advertised a 3G data card with speeds at 1.5Mbt! Unfortunately we do not have that here :(
