South Africa style Truth and Reconciliation Commission

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

South Africa style Truth and Reconciliation Commission

Postby half-cast » Sat Jan 06, 2007 9:08 pm

If South Africa could do it why can't Cyprus?

Confessions in exchange for Forgiveness -

A good first step and the only true path to reunite Cyprus in any meaningful way.

Cyprus appears to be one giant broken heart in need of healing.

(PS- I know I am not from Cyprus but my mother is Greek-Cypriot so therefore half of me at least gets a say on this issue)

So is everything rosy now in South Africa?
As far as I know most whites already abandoned the place.

It's a good idea but the truth is uncomfortable for too many in senior positions, so they will not propose and do everyting to oppose.

Half-Cast,

An excellent suggestion and a very good idea in my opinion.

Half Cast

I like your say on the matter and if you care enough to find the portal and have a say hey that's a benefit for all Cypriots.

May I suggest though that if your mother is Greek Speaking Cypriot I think you may consider yourself a Cypriot. (personally I have a problem wth the word half cast, like the Aborigines you are one or you're not. I also believe that it can be a term of exclsussion) sorry about my ramblings.

Halfcast is not accpetable in the UK. Mixed race is PC.

As for your suggestion, its good but not workable in Cyprus or anywhere in the Mediterrenaen.

I made the same suggestion when I first started posting in these forums, but now I see we are not ready or able to manage such a mature selfexamination...Certainly not while former terrorists and murders walk the streets with immunity. Not while we threaten and intimidate those who are looking for the mass graves and the missing. Not while greed and selfinterest rule supreme in part of our country. Not while the TRNC is run by the Turkish Army... :(
