Just to keep this thread in the rules Lana has outlined above, let me ask "Viewpoint". Will you recommend I stay in Girne/Kyrinia for me to see most parts of the North by doing day trips from there, or would you recommend other places.?

Kyrenia/Girne is the best place to stay as it is naturally beautiful and very central to places you wish to see via day trips and only 20 minutes to Kucuk Kaymakli in Lefkosa. Please visit Bellapais at night and eat in the Kybelle Restaurant which is in the monastery grounds. My choice of hotel would be the Colony Hotel http://www.parkheritage.com/contact.html or you could try the new one which has just opened it doors call the Grand Mecure Hotel in Kervansaray which I believe is the most modern and has all the latest technical gadgets associated with 6 star hotels.

Just to re-emphasise I have stated that you can stay where ever you wish, your conscious is your own. The point I'm trying to make is that a GC would never do what you are doing just take a few minute to ask yourself why?

PS; I was joking about wishing bad things for you in the south, Im sure you will have a great time where ever you go.

Thank you Viewpoint, for your advice as to where to stay and eat.

If a GC's will not do what I propose to do, well, that is their loss.

Thank you for your kind words. I feel like we are brothers again.

The Americans doesn't even allow me to visit Cuba, without heavy penalties. I want to be able, to at least visit my own country, trouble free.!!

I know what Viewpoint will recommend! To stay in the south and do only day trips to the north ;)

WHY DONT WE CALL KOFI ANNAN TO ASK WHAT HE THINKS ABOUT KIKAPU'S TRIP??

Maybe we should. Then Annan will ask Desoto, Desoto will ask the Americans, and the Americans will say that Kikapu should do whatever Viewpoint asked :P

oh sotos, you KNOW the americans don't want to get involved.....

Kikapu,
What is this thing between you and Karma?
I am getting jealous...
Like you i haven't been to my place of birth for 40 years.
I hail from a little village near Polis, and my mother have some land there she has not visited since 1972.
I was in the TRNC last in 1999,and I can tell you it did not feel like "home"at all, despite all my relatives living there. You have to follow your heart, and have the holiday you want, and tell your brother Viewpoint to mind his own business...We are not in this world to live up to other people's expectations.
And one little advice. If you have not already organised your exit from the TRNC,and you have not arranged to delay your military service officially, don't go to the North, unless you are prepared to spend 3-4 days running around like a chook with his head cut off, getting every peace of paper they want to give you your exit permit. I know because I had to go through it in 1999 at age 48...

Take care and have a wonderful holiday in your motherland.
I hope everything will go swimmingly well, and you will share your experiences with us during and/ or after it... 8)

Birkibrisli , I see you haven't been to Cyprus for 40 Years !! Don't leave it too long mate .
I was born about 6 miles away from Polis , which village were you born in ? Mine was Stroumbi , the old village before the earthquake of 1953 .

Ps , your mother's land still belongs to her .

You are right,Miltiades...
I haven't been home for over 40 years.Though I was in the TRNC last in 1999! I was born in Kios (Istinco in Turkish). And in 1953 I was a tottler in Sarama about 2 km from Istinco, during the famous earthquake...

We were essentially neighbours in Cyprus...Fancy that!
My mother is 86...I wonder if she will live long enough to see a solution to Cypro,so she can have her land back??? Thank you for your sentiments, dear friend. If Kikapu makes it out in one piece,I might be tempted to go home too... :D
