Drawing cash out from UK?

Postby Newformz » Tue Jan 02, 2007 7:04 am

Hi,

Im currently in the UK for the hols and i need a bit more extra cash. I have an acount with Bank Of Cyprus with a normal cash card. Does anyone know how or where i can draw cash out from in the UK?

I tried my card in a Natwest, Abbey & Barclays cash machines and it works but i cant view my statement. I only have the option to draw out cash with or without a reciept, i dont want to do that incase i get a big charge and also im not sure how much i have in my account. I should of been paid on the 1st but dont know if it has gone thru yet due to the holiday season. Obviosly i dont want to get into overdraft.

The postoffice is the best to exchange money but doubt they can help me with a bank card??

Im going into town today but wanted to ask around here first if anyone can help? I have checked the Bank Of Cyprus site but no info and i dont have an online account setup.

Thanks.

I think you might find that if you go into the UK version of the BOC they may not help you .

When I tried in a London branch of the BOC they told me that they were the Bank Of Cyprus UK ltd and had no connection with the BOC Cyprus.

The connection was in name only and they were unable to help me.

This was about 4 years ago so things might have changed but I doubt it.

Whenever we are in Cyprus, it is the same for me with my UK account. I can withdraw cash, but never get a balance :(

Best place to change money (IMO) in Derby is the Ilkeston Co-Op Travel on St Peters Street. Zero commission and reasonable rates (less than in Cyprus, but that is as ever). They wil let you have money with a Bank Card (Visa, Cirrus, Maestro), don't forget to take extra ID such as a passport or driving licence, but won't be able to help with the account balance...unless they have to get clearance from the card provider...Now that *may* be a way around your predicament?

Wow - never thought I'd be discussing my home town on Cyprus Forum
