What did you give / get for Xmas...

Postby Kikapu » Sat Dec 30, 2006 1:22 pm

I got tired of giving my girlfriend useless things like jewelry and other things that she would use it once or twice and then put them away for ever. So this year, I gave her a "Schlitten" and she did the same for me. No no, not the kind you are thinking of. We actually like each other. :D

A "Schlitten" is a Sledge, that one sits on, then slides down the mountain in the snow. You control your speed and steering by having both your feet in front of you on the ground, while sitting on the Schlitten, and holding on to dear life.!!

We are now waiting for the snow to arrive.!

Exactly the same bloody crap that I got last year--- actually to say it's crap is unfair as my wife always buys quality but it's the same every year.

2 packs of socks

2 packs of underpants

2 shirts -- nice but expensive

1 pair of trousers

1 jumper / pullover

All from M & S and not cheap at well over a hundred pounds for the lot.

I wouldn't mind but as she's not worked for some while I'm giving her money to buy me stuff I don't really need and certainly not what I wanted

Did I get what I wanted ------ NO I BLOODY DIDN'T   --- why -- because it wasn't expensive enough

I could have saved her ( or myself as I had to give her the money in the first place ) about £80 if she had bought me the item I wanted.

I've come to the conclusion that there's a certain lack of imagination with my wife's idea of buying Christmas presents  but at least I'm never surprised -- I just can't understand why she asks what I want then goes out and buys exactly the same as she did last year :? .

I gave two very pregnant friends, vouchers for makeovers/hairdo then a photo session - to cheer them up after their ordeal! And their husbands Port/Stilton and a goat! Well not actually a goat but a donation to www.oxfam.co.uk for a goat to be given in a needy counrty. Last year I gave a donkey, but am economising this year LOL

I've often wondered Lana how long the goat lasts once it's been given to a needy third world person.

Considering most of them are starving to begin with a goat is really another mouth to feed --- I can imagine that the goat soon looks like a weeks worth of food on four legs ---- either curried or grilled.

Perhaps I'm being cynical I don't know --- or perhaps realistic

Excellent idea though --- pity it can be abused

Well when you think a lot of meat sold in Cyprus as lamb is goat, you probably answered your own question

Ahhh, at least he'll be able to light a lovely fire with the coal!

Thinking about it, he can start an even better fire with what he actually got :D
