Intersted in the earlier comments regarding gold and diamonds.
Has anyone else experience of this? Is there a diamond centre on the island?

Hi Kempes.

When we where 'rich' i.e NO kids - Jo always went to Carats - They have shops across the island and we NEVER had a problem with their after sales service.

not that I know of but they dont have a duty tax so can offer them much cheaper
I found them cheaper than Australia thats for sure and Australia had diamonds at reasonable prices!
but dont go to teh tourist areas
go to the local jewellers
there is a good one in LCA near Ayios Lazaros church.....

When we were in Oz my wife was rather keen on the pink diamonds. Rare and very expensive. Luckily we had kids and so could not afford one. Phew!

i find doctors/medical treatment being a tremendous value, whereas many things, like electronics are generally more expensive than anywhere else

Cyprus airports , when it comes to food and beverages are an absolute rip off. The problem is that the Government has decided to allow the sharks that operate these airport facilities to become richer and richer at your expense. The mostly British customers do not cause a fuss when being ripped off and the operators know it very well. An espresso coffee in Larcaca costs cy£1.60 , daylight bloody robbery .

probably right, but I have a priority pass, so get to use the first class lounge for free, as I fly 2-3 times a month, it pays for itself I am sure, from what you say...
