Back to Piratis' original post on this thread...I for one am glad the GCs were open about their feelings and unlike 1960, did not sign up to something they did not believe in. However (always a but!), while I respect anyone for their peaceful viewpoint, I wonder how realistic the expectations of the 76% who said No to Annan are? Is there any point in holding out for the ideal solution most GCs want?

Piratis, if you were to do a risk assessment, can you honestly say (with all & present factors taken into account) you will get all you want? And if so at what cost? And what will you lose by holding out?

I think Birkibrisli painted a very real picture of life in North Cyprus if the status quo continues. It is not just the "new" TCs, but also the vast majority of young TCs who thought that, unlike their parents' generations, they could reconcile with GCs. Well today's news of racist daubings inside Old South Nicosia is another reminder of how far the two sides are...in years to come they will not be seeking out their Cypriot bros in the South, but looking to their bros in Turkey.

So, feel free to be honest and not sign up to something you don't believe in, but be ready to face the consequences...

scotseza, did you join recently or this year? The frustration you show, they only get stronger and louder. He's only egging you to fall for the Turkish trap of segregation in N.Cyprus. They're willing to die fighting for it as well. So now you know what life is like for a GC that cant get back to their homes. Its just that the hatred we show that gets written up while everything else is forgotten about from their side. We're in a no-win situation. Just help us by not feeding the fire. The brighter the fire burns, the longer we cant sit down to negotiate.
