I think National Service is a good thing to be honest, it teaches young people discipline and much more. Killing?

Take a look at areas in Nottingham, Manchester, Birmingham and London. There are shootings in at least one of these cities every week. These kids/people went to school and learned right from wrong and they are still shooting. There have been so many shootings/murders in Birmingham recently.

don't most european countries have mandatory military? i don't think it's such a bad idea. i agree with simonwjones on this one. although i must admit, i am glad i never had to join our military. i never had kids, but i am glad also that my nephews never joined up. but i applaud those who do join. it's a way of giving back to your country. war is not the answer, but neither is invasion.

I think the military was a positive experience for me however I'd love to see the back of it in a solution.

So why do you need to train a population war fare? Why do you need to force people to learn about war? People who want to take this up as a profession can play soldiers and not those that hate every aspect of the army and what it entails. Forced military service is a human rights violation and should be abolished.

war exists. in a perfect world, we wouldn't need armies, but we all know this place isn't perfect. armies are a necessity. so why learn about war? so you can also learn ways to avoid it.

8) there are two sayings of winston Churchill that make a lot of sense....
jaw jaw is preferable to war war.
and
When countries are at loggerheads talk softly, but carry a big stick.

It is not armies or conscription that cause wars, its political madmen and their aspirations. there are too many madmen about at present for my liking..

Every country should have its army but its purpose should be only for defending the country and not to attack other countries! Only the UN army should be allowed to enter other countries.
