How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I too, once hated the military. and i wish there was no need for it as well. but this is only a dream. the world is not perfect, and never will be.
but you have to admit (if you are a woman) that there is nothing more handsome than a man in a uniform, standing so proud and erect. :-)

LOL The women and the man in uniform fetish. I find nothing cool about a man in uniform. I see them as any other man in the universe:self-centered and self-satisfying(OK guys just joking). Men in uniform do not impress me, maybe because my brother is one of them. A lot of women think men in uniform are perfect picture of what a man should be like. That's their right. Anyway, unfortunately, I too believe that army is a necessary evil, but as a defense mechanism. I sympathize with GG and her need to stand up for her country, but she is a minority in her own right. The majority of the Americans, just like the rest of the world, cannot understand why we are even there fighting this war. Yes, Saddam was a bad guy, but I think we went kind of cowboy crazy after 9/11 using that as a license to kill everyone we don't like. 9/11 is not an excuse to fall down to those people's level and start killing indiscriminately like they did.
Back to the army discussion. I believe that all countries need armies to defend with. I believe mandatory army service teaches responsibility and matures men. I also believe that it should be shorter than 26 months. I believe that once a family sends a son to the army the second son should serve half the time and the third-if there is on, should be exempt altogether. These of course, are my personal views.

9/11 was the most barbaric attack on innocents indiscriminately , by savages who believed their evil action would ensure their entry into Paradise. Let me tell all those doubters that Paradise exists right here on earth and just in case there people who do not know the exact location , it is the place that people are dying to get to , but still alive once they get there , the place where their human rights are respected , their weird cultures are tolerated and their children are educated free of charge. Still not sure , ask an asylum seeker or an illegal immigrant or for that matter ask the entire third world and they will bloody well tell you. Now we have to defend this paradise therefore we need powerful armies and weapons to protect our paradise from the savages .
