There have been so many shootings/murders in Birmingham recently

Tell me about it...driving through B'ham the other day after a bit of xmas shopping, there were so many police with their guns stopping people and questioning the locals, we found out later that there had been another shooting...

Gun culture...something that really needs to be tackled!

As for national service...I don't know, maybe it is a good idea...I really don't know...

it's too late. guns have already been invented. weapons of mass destruction already exsist. thre is nothing we can do about it except be prepared, be knowledgeable, and try to keep peace. it's not like we can click our heels together three times and make it all go away....

Military Service will not slove the B'ham issue but social programs and educatioal programs. A reduced working day to enable parents to spend quaity time with their children teaching them, guiding them, role modelling that is what will change community attitudes. National service will not ...... it can teach discipline but now social order infact it can be a place of isolation for many young men for many reasons. Most members of minority groups experience some form of discrimination.
