Direct Flights to TRNC from UK and Sweeden

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

DT
Firstly its not occupied airspace that will cut the trip in half but Turkish airspace over turkey. This is something Turkey has no choice about so it will be done anyway due to the protocol Turkey has already signed!!

Are you still holding this position? haven't you read anything over the past week? are the ports now open?? they will only do this if there is a comprehensive solution or if the isolation is removed, they have no other choice as one sided action is suicidal recognition of the "RoC" and de-recognition of the TRNC.

ALl i've read is turkey redefining EU agreements its already signed which is nothing special, thats been going on for years, Get this in your heads, if Turkey does not recognise the ROC, there will be no EU for Turkey. As I've said in the past, the only ones to really suffer from that will be the TC's. The GC's will carry on as now.

And no one will blame Turkey for de-recognising a regime no one else recognises.

C'mon Andri, direct flights to an unrecognised state??!!. The airports are illegal. The only legal ports of entry are in the ROC. The airtraffic controllers in the occupied areas are already interferring with call signs etc and causing problems to incoming flights.

Have you heard of Taiwan?? or dose that not register on your feasiblity radar?

Chicago Convention

Postby elko » Thu Dec 14, 2006 5:31 pm

So ladies and gentlemen, if we put aside the blah blah responses, there is no legal impediment to direct flights fro UK and others to TRNC. Indeed, if it was otherwise, my friend Papadop as a lawyer would be first to force Turkey to stop it.

For those who are interested in the legal side of things (DT and Pyro are excused here) can look up the Chicago Convention at
http://www.condonlaw.com/attachments/chicago_1944.pdf
Pay great attention to article 2 which talks about Suzerainty, Protection or Mandate. According to ECHR TRNC is under the control of Turkey, so no problem here.

It seems that 2007 is going to be very hot for my friend Papadop. If he goes and someone more reasonable replaces him we may have peace in Cyprus. So I would like to take this opportunity to wish peace and a happy Xmas for everybody.

They have 14+ years to work towards the EU if they are ever going to get in which I personally doubt but they will never recognize the "RoC" in its current format a GC state so unless you get it into your heads that Turkey cannot recognize the south unless there is a comprehensive solution where TCs would take the role in a united Cyprus the current ping pong match will continue for a very long time to come. Are you willing to wait? of course we will in the meantime push for a relaxation of the inhumane embargoes imposed by the GC "RoC".

Thank you DT but I did excuse you from the legal arguments. You only proved my point by ignoring the explanation of Sovereingty in Araticle 2. as far as Chicago Convention is concerned. Please don't waste our time.

If you like I can recall a number of UN resolutions which state in clear fashion where the sovereignty of the land on th island of cyprus lies.

I know yo're still young so in an effort to educate your fragile little mind I will bring them up for you.
