NURSING JOB SHORTAGE WOW

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Postby rulla » Wed Dec 20, 2006 2:59 pm

if its a highly paid job which it should be then more people would take it up as a carreer instead of bringing in people from other countries, the only people that can improve things are the nurses themselves dont they belong to a union of sorts?if they do then they need shootingor a kick up the bacside!

You sound like my daughter when she asks a question and she doesnt like the answer-she keeps asking the question. I told you what I personally know they make. If you do not think it is true then it is your provocative. Furthermore, despite of what you might think, I do not sit in front of my computer waiting for someone to ask me something so I can reply within 2 seconds. I do have a life and sometimes it takes me days to get to all messages. If you want to draw your own mistaken conclusions and assume rather than wait for an answer be my guest.

Sorry if I wound you up Andri. Reason I asked you to re-confirm is that I wasn't sure from your response if you meant that both your aunt and her husband were making £15k, or just your aunt on her own. Also it wasn't clear to me the level of seniority of nurse your aunt is, which one might think can make a significant difference. And, as I said, I have a vested interest in your answer, so wanted to be sure of your opinion.

Anyhow, thanks for you response, and hope you have a Kali Chrisuyenon.

Thankz Zm. Sorry I was having a bad day and I think you paid for it. All of the people I know or are my relatives that work in hospitals, have a specialization and they have been working there for ages. I hope you found what you are looking for...Merry Xmas!

I suppose this is on a bit of a tangent to the original thread but I was quite surprised to find there are no rehabilitation services (unless it's going on under a different name!) either in hospital or the community.Maybe i was just a bit naive.
I'm an occupational therapist so just wonder what happens to people who need to learn to do normal things again after say a stroke or injury? Is there a culture of "being looked after" by family? Are there any shops of equipment for greater independence (walking/toileting aids/rails etc) or wheelchair services? What do the aging ex-pat community do for services? (other than go back to the uk!) Lisa

Maybe Andri!! I'm so used to working in the nhs/social services I can't quite imagine charging patients. But I guess I could learn! I guess there's not the compensation culture in Cyprus that gets in the way so much in the UK? Or am I wrong?

Well charging is where a good office manager comes in handy for. You do what you love and someone else asks for the money lol. A lot of people take care of their own but now that a lot of brits and other europeans are moving over, you might actually have an idea there....
