Unification or Liberation?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Unification or Liberation?

Postby Klik » Tue Dec 12, 2006 4:13 pm

Why are some people here talking about unification? (I know that some of the Turks in here would love that)

Just understand what you want! Unification! That usually happens when two similar things merge!
Is the Republic of Cyprus the same as the pseudostate carrying a name including Turkish and Cyprus in the same line?

One is widely accepted, and the other is a result of war. Not that similar to my little eyes

Unification occured in Italy in around 1860!
States sharing the Italian language and culture, but different policies. Lombardia, Piermont, Venetia, Calabria, Tuscany, Lazio(the area where Rome is for those that don't know) and other Italian states joined and formed Italy!

Unification occured in Germany in 1870:
Same as above, when Prussia, Frankfurt, Bavaria, Saxony, Baden, Wuttenberg etc joined and formed Germany. All German speaking states.

What does this has to do with Cyprus? Well, NOTHING!

Cyprus is under occupation, and people talk of unification of the island as it was ever split!

The god damn island is CONQUERED and ruled by foreigners, and the rightful citizens of those lands are not allowed to go there!

Unification is the worst possible choice of word. We want liberty from the Turks, not unification with them. We don't need to show them that we acknowledge their actions. LIBERTY TO CYPRUS!

I have a feeling, the TC's in the Northern Part of Cyprus, do feel Liberated.!!

Since there are no GC's living under occupation, then Liberty is not what is required for them, rather Unifying them with their land in the North.!!

All those years people, politicians etc in Cyprus called for freedom, liberty! The first time the word unification was mentioned was from Kofi Annan, who we know whom he favoured with "his" plan(s)...

And after that, many people use that word, as if it was the correct one. People always tend to neglect what their opinion was 5 years ago  That's why we are in a mess right now. :!:

And we are living under occupation. We are not still in war conditions, but a lot of people would have been living in the occupied lands if the invasion had never occured. Our lives would have been much much different, as refugees would have lived their whole lives in Ammochosts, Morfou, Keryneia etc, and we would have never known them from our childhood etc. Even if I have many many close friends that are refugees children, and many relatives too, I'd trade that friendship for the rest of my country. I'd rather be happy for my nation than myself

Unification is too formal a word to be associated with illegally occupied lands.
