The collapse of the illusions

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Bananiot » Sat Dec 16, 2006 8:16 pm

Obviously Pyrpoliser you think that the best way to serve your country is to pick fights with the moderate Turkish Cypriots of the forum. Of course, I never know when to take you seriously, when you call names or when you patronise.

I am sorry DT but you have got it all wrong. In the 60's we were well on top. We shouldn't have been for a start. We signed an agreement in 1960 to share power with the Turkish Cypriots. Had we honoured this agreement we wouldn't have been fighting in the internet right now. Sure there were fanatics among the TC's that wanted partition and only partition. We played into their hands by committing attrocities against the ordinary TC's. We not only failed to show magnanimity but we also denied their rights that were safeguarded by the constitution. Then we decided to change the constitution unilaterally. We all proclamed (including AKEL) that our ultimate aim was union with Greece. Thus we alienated the vast majority of the TC's who had no where else to turn but to the warm embrace of Turkey and the fanatics who offered protection to them. DT, are you man enough to see the truth in the face? If you and the rest of my fellow Greek Cypriots can do this, then perhaps we still have a chance. I am upset and depressed to see that the fanatics have taken over in the GC society as soon as Papadopoulos was elected President. When great strides have been made in the TC society (they even rewrote their school history books) we backpedal to unheard of, nationalist and shauvinist views. Our young people have an inate animosity towards the TC's and they have even decided that partition suits them quite fine. We have been isolated by the international community and no one takes us seriously any more. We have even managed the unthinkabble; we have turned our traditional friends against us.

Of course DT, I cannot convince you for anything. Like Piratis and Pyrpoliser, you probably think that I am on the pay roll of the Turkish secret services. Strange enough, the Piratis's of the other side say the same things for the TC's who still long for reconciliation. You said DT that you admire Akinci. I share the same vision for Cyprus with Akinci and if you like we can both go to his office and talk about it. Now, how in heaven Akinci can be a paid agent of the Greeks and me a paid agent of the Turks, only the sick minds of the bigots can work it out.

Finally DT, I would like to tell you that I subscribe to the notion that "only the truth serves best the national interests".

Bananiot on the other side those that criticize their own side like Sener Levent criticize our side also. You are like Talad and Dectash. You accuse GCs for everything and post Turkish propaganda! Not once you said the truth about the crimes of Turks. You always excuse them. Why you do this I don't know but you want Turkey to have its own way in Cyprus :( Are you a member of Gray Wolves? What you say could be said by one of them.

Rubbish. I have written countless posts pointing an accusing finger at Denktash and the Gray Wolves. This, however does not get us anywhere. Denktash is Denktash and he has played his game remarkably well. We fell in the trap he set for us, not reluctantly but willing and what the "patriots" of our side are doing now, is taking another plunge into the trap of the deep state of Turkey.

Countless are your posts against Papadopoulos and Greek Cypriots ;) Did you say anything about Dectash when you talked about the 60s before? I don't remember you saying anything about Erdogan or Ecevit or any other Turk! And you accuse all Greek Cypriots always. You don't do the same with Turkish Cypriots. Why you do this? To make some TCs to like you because you talk like them?

''Piratis, I understand your difficulty. The truth would rock to the groung everything you have built with your imagination. I know you have named Sampson as a culprit for the 1963 events but as you know, one swallow will not bring spring. He had collaborators and fellow war lords. Who were they? Would you like to tell us? Who funded them and was it okay to murder women and kids, as long as their numbers did not exceed a certain standard you seem to have in your head?''

Will anyone answer the question of who the collaborators of Sampson was? Would a certain person in a high position of authority in the RoC who is married to the woman of one of the most fanatical Enosist's of the 1950-70s be amongst them?

Suit yourself sotos.

Do not expect an answer from the fanatics my friend. They do not differ from Denktash. You managed to get rid of yours but now we have ours!

Sotos,

Whether Bananiot says anything negative against the TURKS or the TC's, does it make what he says about the actions of what the GC's done in the past, any less truthful. Once you can admit your own mistakes, you can also show what the other side has done also, but it does not negate, what your side did in the first place. It is almost like saying, "well, we killed them, because if we had not, they would have one day killed us, and after we killed some of them, they too started killing us, so therefore, they committed crimes against us also, as we were committing crimes against them". The two things are completely separate issue. You need to address what your leaders did to the TC's, and let the TC's address what their leaders did to the GC's. It is called, coming to terms with your own history, and us also.

Sotos is very right.

Bananiot thinks that being a GC moderate means to adopt the position of the TC extremists. That or he just wants to harm Greek Cypriots as whole for some unknown to us reason.

Whether Bananiot says anything negative against the TURKS or the TC's, does it make what he says about the actions of what the GC's done in the past, any less truthful.

The truth can not be said in halves. Imagine somebody saying the "truth" about WWII talking only about the victims of the Nazis and the atrocities of the allies against them. It could be all true facts, the Germans lost millions, but would that person saying the truth when he would intentionally say half of the truth to mislead people to the wrong conclusion? Sorry, thats not called truth, it is called propaganda, and Bananiot is full of Turkish propaganda and very little beyond that.

What is worst, not only he is saying half truths, but outright lies as well. The collaborators or Grivas and Samson and EOKA-B were not Papadopoulos or Lyssarides(!!!!). It was people that are now harbored in DISY like Karras and Pourgourides. Hell, even the son of Samson is now a parliament member with DISY http://www.parliament.cy/parliamenteng/ ... ampson.htm

Samson and Grivas were against Makarios and wanted him dead. This is why they collaborated with the coupists of Greece to overthrow and kill Makarios. Papadopoulos and Lyssarides were on Makarios side, not on the side of Samson, Grivas and EOKA-B. Today the mentality of Samson, Grivas etc is still harbored among some in DISY. Go to a DISY gathering, or to game of a right wing team (APOEL, Anorthosis etc) and there you will see many many Greek flags and almost no Cypriot ones. These are the people that the alliance of the center-left parties defeated, but for some reason Bananiot wants DISY back in power.

Bananiot doesn't care about the truth, he just wants to harm Cyprus in general and the governing parties in particular, and he decided that adopting the Turkish propaganda would help him to do so.

And since we are talking about Cyprus politics, one more thing has to be made clear: Center-right Papadopolous, is not the favorite of Greek Cypriots. His party received less than 18% last elections, and it was a 14% party when Papadopoulos was elected. However AKEL, the Socialists, and the Greens, choose to cooperate with DIKO (Papadopoulos party) because the alternative was to have DISY and the EOKA-B boys ruling us again, and that is a no-no. This is why Bananiot and everybody should know that no matter how much they lie the governing parties will stay at their position and DISY will never see power again.

You forgot to say that the remnants of EOKA B in DISI splinted and formed EYROKO and that this is the most hardened right wing party in Cyprus. They fervently oppose all efforts for a compromise solution and seek a return to the 1960 constitution. Those that stayed in DISI were in the same boat with you (along with arch coupist Stylianos Pattakos who claimed that Papadopoulos is a worthy son of the motherland) during the referendum. Oh, you can put Sampson's son in the same boat too and the whole of the unrepended EOKA A and B. You have great company, Piratis. Enjoy!
