Hi there we are coming over to cyprus and was just wondering if to go onto broadband or use dial up over there.

Also how much is broadband per month?and anyone recommend a service provider.

I'd be grateful if anyone over there can give me some advice

We are on broadband our provider is cytanet, the phone company, I think we pay about £13 a month

Thats a misleading figure Suzie. Assuming you want the 1Meg connection with cytaniet. You pay........

Phoneline - £8/month
I-Choice 1000 - £15/Month
Netrunner - £12/month

Total - £35 month plus VAT bringing it to just under £40.

There is also Primetel with...
750kb internet at £25 month plus VAT bringing it to under £30. This includes a telephone line. There is a free upgrade at present to either 1Meg connection or 1000 minutes free talktime a month to landlines.

sorry but we do not pay anyway near that much and we do have 1meg connection with cytanet also we have myvision through cyta

I pay the same as Hazza! Dial up is very slow and can work out to be expensive. However i-choice broadband is not available in some areas especially villages away from the main towns.

Does anyone know if you can get it in the villages outside Paphos? Stroumbi, Tsada, Tala, Mesogi etc?
I'm thinking we'll be deciding where we live dependent on where we can get it for work.

Hazza is correct but I don't think you should add the phoneline in the broadband cost as you would have to pay for the phoneline anyways to have a phone in your home. Also you can go with Otenet which is 10 pounds instead of 12. So the cost for 1Mbit broadband is 25 pounds + VAT.

Broadband is not widely available outside of the major towns.

However, we can provide a service using a two-way satellite connection anywhere on the island.

Although to be fair, few people seem to use land-lines in Cyprus as the mobile service is so cheap. So, if you have to have a land-line installed to get broadband then you have to consider it as part of the package price.
