hi i am comeing to live in paphos in jan .i have a 2 month old sony bravia 40 inch and would like to bring it .will it work in cyp and if so is it a simple matter of doing something myself and shall i buy sony laptop in uk or cyp

Yes, it is possible. Bring it over with you. If you can't get any sound on the terrestrial channels, you can take it to any TV repair shop and they will do a small conversion for around £25-30.

Your TV will probbaly be multi regional and not need chipping.
Definitely buy your laptop in the UK; much more choice and better pricing.

We have a Sony 32 inch LCD, we have a sound choice on it and you choose the language, so if you can tune into BFBS (naughty naughty, we can't get it unfortunatley :cry: )you choose English, for the Cypriot channels you choose Greek and it won't need chipping as Lana says. Older tele's do need chipping though.
