ID Card - How to get one?

Postby sneezing7 » Thu Nov 30, 2006 10:21 am

Hi,

Could anyone please tell me how I can get a Cyprus ID card? I have had a look on the govt website, but had no luck.

Also, what is the time frame of actually getting this card?

Thanks in advance!

You can apply for a cypriot ID if you have Cypriot parentage or citizenship. If not you can apply for an aliens ID card. You go to the your local administration office and pick up a form.

Thanks Twinkle

This is the deal. Mum is Cypriot (but born in Aus), but Dad is Greek. I have a Greek pasport, and all the cypriot forms such as Alian book, pink slip, etc...

What is this "Administration office"? Where is it in Limassol?

If one of your parents is Cypriot citizen you should be able to get the citizenship also. Does your mother have the Cypriot citizenship?

As my wife is Cypriot does that mean that I will be able to get a Cypriot id card .

Also on another point -- I will be coming to Cyprus to live early next year and have wondered if the immigration process is easier if I'm married to a Cypriot.

I'll be very thankful for any imput you have on this

No - she is classified as Australian. I already have a greek passport, so thats enough for me. Just need to get an ID card over here to make life easier!

Bill, you can get the Cypriot citizenship but I don't know if that will give you any real benefits. sneezing, I think it will be complicated to get Cypriot citizenship. Maybe you will have to prove that your mother is Cypriot first. How will id make your life easier?

dont know if i can be much help here.

i THINK you may get an ID card easily, doesnt take long once, a couple of weeks,it is whether you have a dual nationality one (eg greek/english) or purely english

we came over both being of greek origin.
my husbands' father had a greek ID card, and mother had passed away.
my parents had not yet got their Greek ID cards, so i was only given an ID based on english origin.
the main difference i believe, is that with a Greek/multi national ID you are entitled to benefits GC are entiltled too, eg hospital care.
apologies if i'm wrong.
