How much American money is Turkey paying Arsenal with to put that flag up there?

(Then you call these people your compatriots... It's clear that they are simple Turks, left out of their motherland  )

Could it be none and someone up there is looking after us

It's more like some one down there waiting to catch you... :nevil:

At last we are getting somewhere. Nice of you to admit it.................

Embargoed! Member Mete flies TRNC flag at Arsenal
Arsenal season ticket holder and Embargoed! member Mete Ahmed recently had to stand up for his rights when his club received complaints about his displaying the TRNC flag at Arsenal's matches. Turkish Cypriot Mete refused to take down his flag when asked by officials at the new Emirates Stadium and was subsequently informed that the club would investigate the matter.

Mete recently received a letter from Arsenal FC's Stadium Assistant Manager Mark Pearce advising him that he is entitled to fly his TRNC flag in the designated area at the stadium. The letter also stated that the club is fully aware of the political sensitivites surrounding Cyprus and the complaint had been carefully considered. While Arsenal acknowledged the presence of the TRNC flag would upset some fans, the club, having taken advice from the UK Home Office, did not feel this was sufficient grounds to refuse Mete the right to fly his flag. Pearce also wrote that the club believed had the complaint been upheld, it would be tantamount to the club discriminating against Turkish Cypriots; although the TRNC is only recognised by Turkey, Arsenal accept the TRNC flag is the national flag of Turkish Cypriots.

The TRNC's London Representative Office also supplied Arsenal with evidence surrounding the flag issue, including the outcome of the case against Transport for London (TfL), who had refused advertising from the TRNC's London Tourism Board on the grounds that the TRNC did not officially exist. TfL lost the case.

A delighted Mete told Embargoed!, "I'm glad the club I've supported all my life saw common sense and allowed me to continue waving my TRNC flag. Like everyone, I'm proud of my roots and was offended when Arsenal asked me to remove the flag. The UK is a country based on equality and sport is about bringing everyone together, so it was shocking a football club could want to discriminate against its Turkish Cypriot fans." He continued, "Now Arsenal has given the green light on the TRNC flag, I hope other clubs and sports follow its lead so we Turkish Cypriots can also be on the global sporting map."

So let me get it right? The Cyprus question is now down to supporting rival football teams and what flags can be displayed by football hooligans? (Ooops sorry, supporters)

Well the EU and UN are going to get really excited about this!

I expect a motion to recognise flags at Arsenal Football Ground before the UN Security Council next!

It will have to wait its turn though, Mickey Mouse has just asked for Disneyland to be admitted as a member.

Where do I sign this petition? I like a good laugh! I can just see the Arsenal chairman reading it and thinking,
"What the f**k is all this shite?"

sotos, you sicken me...get a life...is this your contribution to debate and discussion?

there is no point in anyone getting pissed off at the flag being displayed at emirates as it does not mean anything politically...it does not imply that arsenal recognise TRNC...its a football team...lol

rawk is right, this petition IS a joke...

i dont think david dein gives a damn what flags are hung in the stands as long as they are to the rule book and the TRNC flag is...

he's secretary will receive the petition, realise it is a 'mickey mouse' petition and throw it in the bin....

Rawk, you'd actually be surprised as to the amount of GC's that actually WOULD consider going to the UN about stupid matters like this :| no names **cough**sotos**cough**...lol

The "trnc" flag is an offence to the 100s of thousands of people that have been ethnically cleansed from the northern part of the Republic of Cyprus. It represent this terrible crime and it is for us what the Swastika is for the Jews.

If that crime flag is allowed, then surly the flag that Sotos posted above should be allowed in the stadium as well. I am also against such petitions since they do not worth anything. I believe that concrete anti-measures should be taken instead.

Of course it should be allowed, and it is allowed. Sotiris, has every right to post and wave whatever flag he wishes to, as that is part of his freedom of speech and his freedom to express his disaproval of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. This particular way to express disaproval I find somewhat primitive, and childish, and I personally would never resort to it as I consider it too demeaning for myself, but Sotiris seems fine with it so let him post and advertise his wonderful creation.

And stop comparing the Turkish intervention with the Holocaust and Nazi crimes against the Jews - it never even came close.

If somebody is waving the flag that represents the illegality and ethnic cleansing how can the same person find demeaning some excrement. Both are equally disgusting, but at least shit never killed or violated the human rights of anybody.

Comparing the "trnc" flag with excrement, is unfair for the excrement.
