Kartel_Aetos, you are probably aware of the four stages of intoxication through drink!.
The first stage leaves you feeling like a lamb,
The second stage brings out the lion in you,
The third is when you have had enough but continue and become likened to a pig,
The fourth stage transforms you into a monkey, scampering around talking gibberish and making mischief.
Perhaps GorillaGal has chosen an appropriate avatar, looks like she has had enough eh?. :D :D :D :D :D :D

Yes, only people need to respect other people's opinions like you did. Piratis, like any other is allowed to his own opinion like GG is.

this is a discussion forum....the thing is, we must know where to draw the line on discussion so we are not being mean and disrespectful to one another

Actually i feel quite humbled by this thread, I know from my own experience anger is a dangerous thing, and can make us all blinkered to seeing another side to things, of seeing a bigger picture and makes us unable to move on and see the good in anyone, whether it be a country or a people. Cyprus needs people like you Kartal_Aetos and the writer of that beautiful piece. Instead of the head ruling, the soul must be touched and opened to allow its warmth and goodness to shine through, uncorrupted by whats taught and become innocent like small children. We are taught to hate in subtle ways, but over 30 years on, even those that never suffered the war have been taught to be angry and hate because of it. I hope that one day a generation will be taught to tell the difference between those in power who manipulated it all to their own ends and the innocent people who were puppets in the game.. Thanks Kartal_Aetos for touching my soul, and bringing out the warmth and honesty in me..

@piratis

Take a look at this website written by a number of human rights organisations including ones based in the ROC on the human rights records of the ROC

http://www.enar-eu.org/en/national/cypr ... s_2005.pdf

Let me highlight a part

According to the State Department Human Rights Report for 2005,49
“the [Cyprus] government continued to use textbooks at the primary and
secondary school level that included inflammatory language derogatory of
Turkish Cypriots and Turks. This was a particularly serious concern with
history textbooks.

Are they lying since you personally have never come across such a thing in youre '12 years of schooling'

This is very easy to find out since there are 1000s of copies of each book out there. Tell us what school book it is (i think they should have isbn numbers also) and the pages(s) that there is something derogatory about Turkish Cypriots and then we will find out what exactly it is. Maybe there is something about TMT (as it should) or something along those lines.
