I've found that the the tourists are more likely to take rubbish back with with them or use a bin when visiting a beauty spot / place of interest.
I always know when I've passed near a MacDonald's etc due to their packaging being thrown all over the roads -- sometimes from the car in front of me whilst driving down the highway.
Fridges / cookers / old furniture and beds etc thrown at the side of the road -- usually thrown into a old river bed far enough outside villages so as not to inconvenience them.

Have to agree its the rubbish..thats the thing i noticed when i first visited Cyprus..I know the U.K. isnt great when it comes to litter, but its better now than it used to be and high fines for dumping rubbish have helped plus local disposal skips for household waste....If your selling your island as a holiday paradise who wants to wade through plastic bottles and cut down palm leaves?? But then also came across the same situation on Rhodes So maybe its a Med thing? But they are going to have to get their Asses in gear soon because the E.C. is hot on recycling.
dont know how i will handle animal welfare negligence as i am an ardent animal lover...havent seen any on Cyprus ...YET. They must have a down on dogs, as if yours goes in the sea its a £500 fine or someting like that......never mind the rubbish and broken bottles you have to walk through to get there.
Is there anything left to hunt on Cyprus? the way development is going there wont be anywhere left to hunt in the near future.
