Yes driving is so bad in cyprus the government should make it compulsary for CAR drivers to wear motor-sport helmets.....

I know what i am going to say here is going to cause a flood of hate towards me, and my ignorance...but i didn't even know the first thing about cyprus a year ago. so before you go attacking what i am about to say, just keep that in mind, and realize that i am part of this board now, and i am learning, so give me some credit here. having said that, the most annoying thing about cyprus is that it is divided, and a hell of alot of you are at each other's throats trying to defend yourselves and prove who is better and who the island actually belongs to. quiet frankly, it is what it is, and instead of sitting around complaining about GC and TC, you should just accept that is the way it is, and get on with life. for goodness sakes people, get over it! kiss and makeup already, because unless you all make nice with each other, nothing's gonna change.

you can attack me now, tell me i am stupid and to mind my own business, and how much you think the USA sucks, and whatever else mean things you want to say about me and my people. i am not going to respond. just so you know.
thank you!
peace out!

Hey GorillaGal, no worries, everyone's entitled to their own opinion....

You know, I really wish we could get over it, but I believe the only way we ever will manage to is when a proper solution is found, which as you know is taking such a long time...but I'm waiting for the day when we can just move on, and the 'Cyprus problem' doesn't have a whole thread in a forum dedicated to it...

One day, hopefully...:)

Peace! :)

Hey Gorilla you certainly have apoint about the blamina and I strongly support the kiss and make up bit ..... However US interests do not allow for the Cypriots to kiss and make up. Perhaps next time your are talking to number one terrorist in the world your dearly beloved Mr Bush you may want to explain to him what you have learnt on cyprus-forum and ask him to do somthing about it. Perhaps a bribe for the UN to come up with a fairer solution for all Cypriots and preferably a quick one before the two communities move further away from each other.

hi gorilla
as said everyone is entitled to their own opinion- freedom of speech.

however the fact you are refusing to answer any comments, i feel, actually denotes the fact that you know you are wrong!
none of us have the answer, we all want peace and unison, unfortunately its probably not so easy to 'kiss and make up' for the people who have lost their loved ones, their livelihood and basically everyhting they have and that include GC and TC.
your country does have a lot to answer for and the uk- you have to admit they do have a habit of interfering only when it is in their interest - financially and politically- not beacuse they care about humanity or peace!!!

i am wrong in thinking that you cypriots should just get over it and accept the fact that the turks live there, and the island has to get used to the fact that there are 2 nationalities sharing the land? that makes no sense whatsoever.
are there any american military bases in cyprus? i come from a military family, and i have never known an american military person that has lived there. i know there are UK bases there. it is my belief they are there to keep the peace.
the USA cares alot about humanity. politics is politics. you, yourseslves, have spoken of how corrupt your politians are and that they don't really care. politics is not human. people are human. and i assure you, the american people do care. we want peace. politics is a machine that has no feelings. you have the same thing in cyprus.
as for the americans (as a country) doing what is best for their intrests, that is what every country does. that is what every person does. that is just life, so get used to it. i used to be a real heavy pot smoker. i used to sell the stuff too. people used me for that. once i gave up that lifestyle, i was of no use to certain others. just think of the friends YOU have. some you keep around for reasons other than that they are great friends. you might have a friend that is a doctor or a lawyer, and they can be "of use" from time to time, just as i was to the many who just wanted to buy what i had or help me smoke what i had.... so using people or countries is just a part of the human condition. Maybe even you are in a relationship that doesn't make you all that happy, but you stay in it anyway. same thing, basically.
yeah, it is sad what happened when the violence hit cyprus, and the island became divided. it's not the first time in history something crappy happened to a nation, and it won't be the last. so get over it already. stop your damn whining. don't condemn me for being american. i have said it more than once. i didn't vote for george w. bush. i don't support most of what he is or what he does. and that is what a very close majority of "my" people believe.
you have had offers to unify the island, and they ahve been tuirned down. gee i wonder why? maybe it wasn't good enough for the GC? or was it the TC? so don't go telling me I am wrong, and my contry is looking out for our beest interests. it is hypocritical for you to say that about me, or the USA.
enough said.
i am shutting up now. and i hope you do too.

This thread seems to have gone off to a political tangent (again!). Thing I least like about Cyprus - those damned millipedes!! Our house is in a small tradition village halfway between Limassol and Troodos and we get loads of these things. Anyone know how to get rid of them? :(
