i too agree with you eliko.

we are all pawns in the games the politicians play.

im not the most knowledgable on this topic but from the information i have heard and read, the whole situation was planned by the usa and uk years before it happened - greece and the GC just made it easier for them to enforce!!

Thank you unique-earthling, I am not a politician nor would I wish to be one, I find it so distressing when I read some of the comments made by various members vehemently condemning each other and hurling abuse at any that are in disagreement, they are only privy to the information allowed to them by the governing bodies which are in control of such information, the real issues never come under discussion because, if resolved, the value of their position diminishes, better to create problems than solve them, better to encourage ordinary people to voice their opinions (subject to the aforementioned information) than to come to acceptable agreements. This system works quite well when you consider that most of the 'in depth' discussions on this forum are from members who would fain be politicians themselves!, wake up, the wolves are howling at the door!.

Most annoying thing about Cyprus.... the jerks who race up and down our streets in their "fast and the furious" cars. One day they are going to kill themselves, or even worse someone else.. This is a regualar occurance that seems to happen every friday/saturday night on my street.. Recently a car got side swiped by another and caused major damage.. this happens far too often.

In response to the initial post question.
1) POLITICS (Could it be removed from this forum?)
2) Animal Cruelty
3) Driving (i would say standards but there arn't any)
4) customer service which is virtually non existant.
5) The greed culture where everyone seems to be out to rip off the next man.

Hi Sofa

I hope you don't mind me contacting you, please ignore this if it's not of interest. I saw your posting and just wanted to let you know about a documentary we're making in case you might be interested.

The programme is a new documentary series for ITV in the UK and is looking at British Expats who have lived abroad for a number of years, but are now thinking about returning home. With 100,000 Brits returning to the UK each year, the programme aims to investigate the dilemma that many face - the pull of family at home or perhaps missing some aspects of the culture, versus all the fantastic things about living abroad like the weather, more relaxed pace of life, beautiful beaches etc. It will hopefully be of help to anyone who is considering going back to the UK.

We'd love to feature Cyprus as one of our locations, as it's somewhere gorgeous, sunny and most peoples idea of paradise.

We're looking to start filming as soon as we find the right family with a view to getting them back to visit the UK for christmas or in January. I'm keen to hear from Brits who have lived there for at least a year and had minimal contact with the UK but for one reason or another are weighing up whether to go home to Britain.

We would take the whole family back to the UK and help them to test-drive life in Britain today, so they can decide whether it really is as they remember, and whether they really do want to go back. They would get to see old friends and family, look at the housing market, schools, job market, and get a feel of how Britain has changed since they've been away.

They might take one look at the lack of space, cold wet weather, struggling health service and overpriced property market and decide they are living the dream abroad and would never actually come back, they've avoided an expensive mistake! Or they may be reunited with friends and family, take a sip of real ale, tuck into a jaffa cake, take in the green countryside and decide they really have missed home and the best thing they could do go back.

We're trying to spread the word to as many British expats as we can. so if it's not for you perhaps you know someone who might want to hear more.

Also, if you might have any ideas for spreading the word in Cyprus I'd love to hear from you!

Best wishes

Amy

Hi Amy,
Returning ex pats documentary for tv is an excellent idea, but that does not apply to us as we are still in uk at the moment ,and are planning to move to cyprus in the next few weeks for the same reasons you have quoted above (crime, weather, taxes etc etc). However we are terrified at the prospect of going to cyprus and start a new life in finding jobs/ bussiness and generaly settling there as we are a family of 5.(we have three sons).I wish you good luck in finding the right families and looking forward to seeing your production in the near future.
