i haven't been there as of yet, but i do hate the way pets are mis-treated (from what i hear). i am afraid of living there, they would end up locking me up and throwing the keys away, as i relate to dian fossey's reactions of the poaching of gorillas in africa.
i also still don't understand the attitudes i get of it being a closed society to outsiders. i know alot of you are not like that, but i also know alot of you are. i just can't grasp that being from such a culturally diverse society.

Diverse society yes, please leave out the 'cultural' bit, your country introduced decadence to almost every nation on the face of the earth and have come to label it ' The American way of life', you should have sent your comment to the jokes and enigma section of the forum.

8) Not sure who Maggie is ...but anyone bringing a cat or dog to Cyprus (or across the E.U for that matter) has to have a microchip implanted under the skin of the animal, that when a scanner is run across it gives off a number relating to that animal.....when that number is entered all the details of the animal/owner can be seen....

Glad you didn't vote for Bush GorillaGal, not too sure about your perception of Cyprus though, I recall the days of peace and harmony between all inhabitants of this island, the process of political interference has brought about all the problems which now pervade the society here. There were no problems between the TC and GC populace until politicians began to weave their webs of deceit among these people, there still exists a great deal of respect between the two communities which have now, (through the said processes), produced the TC v GC mentality, the real issue is the invasion and occupation of the island by a foreign force which has the backing of both the USA and UK, despite all the assurances to the contrary. You may argue that the same situation may have arisen had the Greek attempt to dominate the island succeeded, I doubt that would have been the case since the Greek culture is very similar to the Cypriot, certainly the destruction of Famagusta would never have been allowed.
We ordinary people, harbour no ill-feelings towards our fellow man, it is the political influences which breed all the hatreds among us, we are all drawn in to the same web, feebly trying to voice our opinions on issues that we are not fully aware of (hidden agendas), when what we should be doing is taking a stand against the policies adopted by the policy makers and making our true feelings known to all.
