its really quite simple.
If people are feeling hard done then 3 things will happen

1) They will react aggressively (Turkish Invasion)
2) They will negotiate to regain a better deal than before
3) They will keep thngs as is if a better deal cannot be found.

1) I don't believe we will react aggressively since if 70 million turks took a piss north of cyprus we'd drown in the tidal wave.
2) We would consider a solution which does not involve any racist elements..eg (1 turk 2 votes 1 greek 1 vote so as to balance things out) and which involves land distribution beocming pop proportional under each administration.

The country needs to be united in foreign and economic policy and the president needs to be voted by proportional representation of the people.

Can understand a need for 2 houses in the senate one proportional and one equal by 2 communities.

Why not make the Green Line a giant Paintball Combat Zone where TCs and GCs could act out their military fantasies and the UN could act as umpires?

Could cost a lot in paint though, maybe the EU could help out with a subsidy?

Hey Rawk, there is value in your suggestion. The way I see it if the green line buffer zone does become a park (though I doubt it because some of my compatriots are so attached to every little inch of their land that they wouldn't accept appropriate compensation to allow for this wonderful park to go ahead) perhaps around Nicosia some walls of the derelick buildings can stay up for artists and young people and the public to paint upon. Now that would be a community initiative to bring people together.

I will travel to Cyprus to vote for anyone with the foresight to declare Gren Line a Peace Park for all Cypriots to enjoy.
