All Cypriots given their right to excercise where they want to live...... not all of them will return to North State because they either would not want to live in a State mostly governed by Turkish Speaking Cypriots or living with Turkish Speaking Cypriots. A commission made up of Cypriots, Greeks, Turks and other independant EU countries to determine on individual basis which settler families stay and which they go. Given that if Cyprus is United that would allow Turkey's accession to the EU to become a reality and those settlers could theoretically re-settle back in Cyprus as EU citizens.? Famagusta port to be the countries port, close Limasol port, larnaca and pahos aiports to remain , nicosia airport will only cause noise pollution for the people of Lefkosia. Alll Cypriots contirbute to the economic, social and cultural society of Cyprus and share equally the necessary services. All schools teach Greek, Turkish and English to students and is compolsory to follow the language stream to year 11. All government and other institutions to employee bilingual staff or some Greek Speaking some Turksih speaking. Upon return those whose properties are not occupied by Turkish Speaking Families outght to return first so that as their current accvommodation becomes available Turkish Speaking families can move in either temporarily or permanently if they so wish and according to government policies. Hence making the transition although painful an easy process. And the buffer zone becomes a peace park ---- the rightful owners of properties that fall within the buffer zone ( future park) can be compensated at market value for their property. Cyprus infrastrucure focusses on building up North Cyprus to have equal standards of living for all Cypriots as is in the South..... Common people lets agree and I shallapproach the EU and the Roc as well as the Northern Cypriots Leadership for a United Cyprus by a plan by the people for the people ..... All Turksih troops out immediately and UN forces to maintain law and order for the next three years

1) There is a huge problem with keeping the and areas as they are and I don't care if Michalangelo himself sculpted those statues. We're talking about people losing their rights to their homes forever and you're giving me statues????
2) If there is a united Cyprus then Turkey would be free to follow the path of the EU in an easier manner...this still means they need to fulfill all obligations like everyone else did. Anyway if this happens you're talking about turkey potentially entering the eu in 15 years. If we agree for the settlers to leave then they can do whatever they like after turkey joins the eu...(although my guess is they'll head for the uk rather than cyprus.)
3) Why close Limassol port??? Any idea how many people are employed by the Limassol port? What would that serve other than throw the islands economy in a spin? Have you given much thought to what you're proposing here?
4) Regarding your point on people's homes that fall within the park....as soon as you put your family home up for sale i'll put mine as well. My house is in Morphou I want members of my family to stay in it, I don't want cash I want the property. Are you going to force me otherwise?

I don't think I'vr agreed with much you've written here however I think you drafted it a little hastily.

Humanist,

You have to understand that you are dealing with humans and not stoned hippies...

The people who had great ideals and fought for peace had ideals that made sense, some of them being Ghandi and others actually understood human nature that you seem to neglect as pot has damaged your braincells in such an extent that you are not thinking at all.

Through your irrational ideals you have become an idiot.

Communities are not characterized by the language they speak but where they come from and what they feel like. You speak Greek because your family is Greek and your ancestors were Greek probably some of them died so that you can speak this language today and you claim yourself as Greek speaking... You are a disgrace, stop drugs, read a couple of books and try to understand humans, you will feel much better.

That was uncalled for, Strahd...
Feel free do disagree with what Humanist is saying, but there is no need to insult him. He obviously wants to see some concrete action instead of endless talk. And he feels comfortable describing himself as a Greek Speaking Cypriot as I feel most comfortable describing myself a Turkish speaking Cypriot who is an Australian citizen.
We are trying to bury the past, not repeat the stupid mistakes our parents and grandparents made, which landed us in the mess we are in.
Some of us feel that the only durably peaceful solution to the Cyprus problem lies in One united democratic country which puts Cypriotness above all else.Unthinking nationalism was chiefly responsible for the civil war which has caused endless pain end suffering for hundreds of thousands of people.I am often accused of being a traitor by my own community for wanting to put Cyprus and Cypriotness before my ethnic origin. If Humanist is an "idiot" than I must be the biggest imbecile in the universe.

So you feel that the old kind of nationalism which was evil can be replaced successfully by a new kind of nationalism which is good and that will solve the Cyprus issue? It is not nationalistic to feel Greek because I was raised as one and I will be proud and a very happy friend of a Turk who feels the same about his origin.

The mistake you are doing is the same as the ES is doing and all this new bullshit about bringing people together by promoting a new common identity for everyone so that we are all the same and we say bye bye to our true identity. And is also very strange that usually this comes from people who are thousands of miles away from the Cypriot ethnic center. Enforcing this will bring anything but peace. People will become angered because you will be threatening their being their traditions and their history through your stupid ideas of common identity.

Ethnic identities are not enforced they exist... whenever an ethnic identity was enforced in such a way it had only one ending. Bloodshed...

Bir, what you say regarding one democratic united cyprus with one ethnicity is what i believe the majority of the GC's want a well. However you need to get over the concern of the TC' which are worried that thi way thery would be asimilated into the majority and everyone would be GC in the end.

Birkıbrıslı your attempts to reconcile our differences are in vain, as you can clearly see one side is far from ready to compromise on anything in order to achieve the ultimate goal, before passing the first hurdle your "Compatriot" has shot you down. He is unwilling to budge one inch to resolve issues, its either his way or the highway attitude will get us absolutely nowhere, like the last 32 years. They have conveniently hidden behind Denktas and now they have had to come out and face the music as it was them that last rejected a UN/Internationally brokered comprehensive solution which confirmed to the world the side that wants a solution. They can explain why they said no until they are blue in the face the bottom line is the last attempt at a solution was thwarted by the GCs.

So Bir you really need to revise your outlook and even come live here on the island as there are plenty more Piratis's in the south who will dampen, ridicule and brush aside your concerns thus demolish your desire for any type of reunification.

Where in the world do you distribute the land mass according to population size size?. This notion is ridiculous. then all nations should reduce their size according to the sale of land to foreign nationals.

Viewpoint, did you make a mistake and wrote "nations" above?

Mistake or not, we know very well, that what you will accept is either a "solution" that will be partition, or a "solution" that will be a stepping stone for partition.

This is why we will NEVER accept your outrageous demands.

You said again that land is distributed only with wars, it is not the first time. We got the point, thanks. We will keep it in mind and you will see the results sooner or later. Meanwhile rot in your pseudo state for as long as you can have it.

I am not talking about enforcing anything,Strahd...
I am talking about an evolution,a slow reeducation away from chavinistic Greek and Turkish nationalism. And,yes,I do believe if in Cyprus we all had Cypriot nationalism,we wouldn't be in this mess now.
And the idea of a "common identity" is not stupid as you suggest.
In fact it existed once in Paphos where I come from.My grandmather spoke better Greek Cypriot than Turkish. And that didn't make her any less of a TC.Our family doctor was a GC.He saved my life on a few ocassions. I believe our Cypriotness should not be an obstacle for our enjoyment of our ethnic origins as well.We could be so much more richer as humans.I am sorry you don't see it that way.

Which of your "concerns" did I "brush aside"?
That I didn't accept that the 18% of TCs can have 29% of land? So your concern is how to gain on our loss? Actually I knew that already, anything new?
