Ajet???

Ajet :bawling:

Hello
We have booked a flight with Ajet for Christmas only now to find out that they have had their planes grounded and their bank account frozen. We paid by a debit card so we not not covered by any insurance. Is anybody else in the same position??

We have been in touch with Ajet but we still don't know if we will be getting a full refund !! We travel to Cyprus 3 times a year and feel very upset that we now have a dark cloud looming over us, when all we wanted was some Cyprus sun this Christmas.

You will get a refund, but (and its a BIG but) only when a) ajets accounts are unfrozen and b) if there is enough cash left after they have paid all the other creditors. I guess the taxman will be first and the customers are always last :(

One thing it has taught me is to always use a credit card, as in these circumstances they are jointly liable so you could claim your money back from them.

Good Luck

I booked return flights from Cyprus to UK for Christmas. We paid by credit card fortunately, so we are hopeful about the return of our money. I had to pay a lot more to rebook flights on BA though.
The Cyprus Govt. were determined to stop this airline operating, it doesn't seem to matter about the people who lost flights!

Carolh,

it is precisely because they care about the people that they grounded them in the first place duurr!!!

They should have acted quicker and they are taking the flack for it now. If you had travelled and had problems you would be blaming the cyprus govt again for not grounding them.

I disagree with alot of things the cyprus govt. does, but on this occasion it is the best decision. You can now rebook your flight, the poor bighters who died last year can't !!!

If your debit card has the visa or MasterCard logo, you can still dispute the transaction...

I believe, their money is long gone from their bank account, and is not likely to return. Sorry but, do these people read the papers, that there was a plane crash last year, and the company's name has been changed, and there would be a big law suit against them, and for a very small company, it would be very difficult to stay afloat, or all they cared about was "cheaper tickets" than other carries, and on top, paid with a "Debit Card". I hope they did not give away their "PIN" number also.!!!

I hate to be cynical, however, with the well publicised problems of AJet, it was a bit crazy to book with them in the first place...

I havent gone near them since the crash...

In the hopes of saving a few pounds, you now find yourself with a problem... anyway, one thing nobody has mentioned is travel insurance... you may be able to claim your money back from that... assuming you were bright enough to take that out rather than save a few pounds there as well..

;)

Thank you all for your comments .

We did not book Ajet to save money & to the kind person who wrote about pin numbers no we didn't give them that either, We live in a country full of debt through credit cards and as we don't have one we paid by a debit card!! Yes we do have travel insurance which we take out yearly, and we are trying that route as well !! we wrote in to high light the problem as Ajet did not inform us we found out from some one who lives in Cyprus.

We understand the issues with Ajet but as we limited flights already to Cyprus we thought we were booking a flight not just putting it in their bank account.

We didn't book flights with AJet to save money. It was because for the first time we could get a winter flight direct to our home town.
As the airline had been operating since the crash, which was well over a year ago, we did not think there would be any problems.
After all Cyprus Airways was under threat of closure last year, but they got Govt. help. They owed a lot more money that AJet did.
Of course this was a political move!
