visting cyprus long term

I'm a cypriot living in Australia - can any cypriots living in Cyprus please tell me what the army requirements are? Thinking of a 12 month stint in Cyprus - at what stage do you get exempt from the army?

I know a half Cypriot who leaves the country ever 3 month so he doesn't have to do his service. Mind you he is resident....susanbunny
