The ONLY benefit we can have from a Turkish accession process is if this process is helping Turkey to make steps towards ending her illegalities in Cyprus.
The point I am making is that Turkey in the EU is of benefit to us BUT only if the Cyprus Problem is solved one way or another, which is effectively what will need to happen for Turkley to accede. We will obviously derive no benefit from Turkey being in the EU if Cyprus continues as a de facto partitioned nation where the RoC is not recognised by her - this will not happen. So the benefit actually goes beyond just ending the occupation there is also a prosperous future beyond that which will rely on Turkey simply because of her size and proiximity to Cyprus. Obviously we do not have to rely on Turkey for our future but friendship and stability in the longterm leads to economic growth this is simply a fact.
