EU tells Turkey to accept plan

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby pitsilos » Mon Nov 20, 2006 3:43 pm

are you kidding me? there is no dotted line. we just make sure turkey is out of the eu, gets pissed off, gets disinterested as you said, and she annex's the north. all in good time.

in other words make the unofficail, official

thats all.

you didn't need any help invading..no one sgned there. You didn't need any help proclaming a new republic, even though no one recognised you you went ahead anyway...why would you need our leaders to sign your joining with turkey?

DT wrote:I really don;t see the point of any hatred or anger being directed here. The point we are makng is very simple. Would the TC's be better off in a Turkey that is not on a path to the EU anymore? Or would they benefit more from joining the ROC as equal citizens of the EU.

I know for sure that there are fans for both arguments as I saw for myself the stampede to obtain a Cypriot passport as soon as movement on the cease-fire line was aloud. I believe even Denktas's grandson applied for a Cypriot passport.

Objectively speaking I think thi TC population is merely trying to hedge their bets. On the one hand we are suspect of the GC's but on the other we have more in common with them than some settler who lives on the border with Iraq on farms. I strongly believe that if Turkey ever annexed (officialy) the occupied areas and stopped the old TRNC line we would see an influx of a good 50% of TC's flock to the south.

So whats your point? once annexed it would have nothing to do with you any longer, Turkey is a vast country and you put forward areas which have problems in an attempt to show it in the worst possible light well sorry to upset your little game but we would probably end up being like Antalya or Alanya which are not only very beautiful but thriving on income generated from tourism.

As for Tcs stampeding for passports, allow people the right to EU freedom and who would not go for it, they would be stupid not to. They still return to the TRNC and benefit from both sides. In order to claim you represent all Cypriots you have to grant passports, so the political advantage far out weighs any inconvenience or cost. If it bothers you to much stop issuing them...

It would be illegal to object to any citizen of his/her country the right to a passport. We can't afford to have mickey mouse rules anymore like you guys, we get EU penalties now.

As far as I know the populatoin of antlaya was 200,000 in the 1980's. SOon it got a bit developed and started looking like ayia napa the popultaion is now 1,700,000. It seems your settlers will flock anywhere there's a lof of bread. Good luck with that.
