cost of (computer) screens

Postby sarah.gee » Fri Nov 17, 2006 7:35 pm

Hallo Guys,
the screen of my notebook is broken. I am going to study in Cyprus for half a year and so I am thinking about buying a normal screen for (desktop) computers there. How much do those cost in Cyprus?
Thank you

What kind of screen? CRT or LCD? How big? Prices vary greatly! You can get a 17" LCD for about 100 pounds.

After looking about a bit (am moving to Cyprus next Sunday) I found this place on the web : http://www.computercity.com.cy/index.html?lmd=39026.501169

By the looks of it prices are just slightly pricier than in the UK. Although some other shops seemed a bit steeper. I also found a couple of laptops (Dell 12" efforts) that I'm thinking of getting and they work out slightly cheaper than buying from Dell directly in the UK. Not bad.

Out of interest, my company in the UK is going to be employing me as a consultant when I move to Cyprus. Because I will basically be my own company then, can I claim VAT back off items for work? (such as the mentioned laptops above).

Cheers

Hi Sarah,

If you post your message in the computer section then you may get some nice person offering you a basic screen free. Just a thought.

Good luck.

Sorry, got a bit confused (it's an age thing.... that's not really my picture in the avatar!). There's a computer section on one of the other BBs - http://easterncyprus.com (I think) - if not then maybe it's on www.cyprusliving.com All great BBs - keep up the good work.

Christine

PS: My description as an 'Advanced Member'..... does that relate to my age?
