For those interested, we have come by a very, brief piece of film taken from within the so called "Forbidden City" or "Ghost Town" of Varosha.

For those that remember, you can clearly see the Esperia Hotel and Barclays Bank in the centre of the town.

I watched both films and i cant imagine the emotions of going back and how it must of felt. I should think a mixture of familiarity, sadness and loss. I also watched a deeply moving film about serbia and the US bombing, not comparing yet their are comparisons. I believe we have to sit back and see consequences, People who are different from different religions must work together and live together and tolerate differences. I truly believe you all have been duped by your governments.. There is a bigger picture here, i really dont think you have all the information and truths on either side. But the effects are what you have now.. Machinations of governments are never as they seem nor are the propaganda thats spread to cover it up. Thats standard all over the world.. You cant trust anyone with your lives on any level so why do you believe what you have been told by those in power? I feel its the old way of thinking that anyone who has power or money has to be respectd, when rarely this is the case... I am not taking sides, but i truly believe that a politician can never be trusted as they have their own agendas and interests at heart.. More corrupt 30 years ago than now and thats saying something because they are self interested today.. Actually it saddens me that Cyprus doesnt consider that they could of been duped and i mean both sides.. Its not the ordinary people that are to blame but the politicians and those had the grand design of things, the plan, the manipulative abilities to try and achieve what they wanted. You all are fooled every one of you.. south and north, and do you really think that the powers that be want reconciliation and have to share their power? you obviously dont know much about human nature especially about greed and the need for power.. For goodness sake it must be obvious, you can see the corruptness and lies your own officials do now, even your families do it to you, the municipalities cheat and lie, so why was it any different in the higher echilons of power 30 years ago...you are a lost people, because you both think you are right when all you have been is lied to, and manipulated to serve others ends..And when you can see that and accept it on both sides then perhaps you can move on..

I think you sumed it up quite well. They won't listen and I don't think anything will change, not even after another 32 years. There are too many big fish who need to keep things as they are to stay in power, and the minnows swallow the nationalist guff from school age.

Lets exchange military power between UK and Cyprus. Then we will see if Cyprus will continue to be occupied and if the so perfect Britons will keep even half of their country. Cyprus is small and weak and some big countries want to have their armies here. That is why all this is happening to us.

To be honest m8 as a UK person who will be moving to Cyprus (South) next August, and having seen for myself whats happened, my heart weeps for such a lovley island to be ripped in half in this way.
I so wish that all this could be sorted out, but like its already been stated, their are a lot of big fishes who want things to stay this way to suit their own ends
