Wow!
How things have changed.
Back in the early 60s when I was only just in to my teens one of my elder sisters, who was 17, had been out for a date with a boyfriend who was in the British forces , and on her return home to our home in Limassol was having a goodnight kiss in our front garden when they were attacked by a group of locals who presumably were upset by this sign of affection in public. The boyfriend being severely outnumbered was left somewhat covered in blood. Fortunately when my father heard the commotion and came out of the house the gang rang off.
One could argue that the local community was not long out of living in the middle ages (as many middle eastern countries still are) and my sister and her boyfriend should have had more consideration of the sensibilities of the local culture but they were teenagers.
Is Cyprus, now in the 20th* century any better fotr the change in morals?
* not quite yet in the 21st !!!
