He spat on the floor. You may wish to follow Kifeas advise, and check your media sources.
A student of Grammar School in this forum told us that he spat on his foot. Where do the media get their info? From their spy satellites?
He simply showed his contempt for people who parade their religion in this unceremonious way. Are crosses in fact allowed in schools in Cyprus?
The problem is not what the 12 year old did as he is a child. The problem is that you support such kind of intolerance.
To be honest in Bulgaria I have never heard of a case where hooded individuals would attack a Turkish pupil, and never seen any of my Bulgarian classmates wear a cross. I am contemptful of people who try to parade and advertise their religion, and in the culture I come from it does not make a good impression to wear a cross or a crecent.
Come on BG_Turk. I also have Bulgarian friends and they told me how easy it is in Bulgaria to hire some nutcase hooligan to go beat up the ones you don't like. Such people exist everywhere, don't try to give us the "Evil Greek Cypriots" story again.
Personally I am atheist and I believe in tolerance and religious freedom. If somebody is wearing a small cross on his chest is not a problem. Why should the religion of somebody be offensive to somebody else?
The whole issue happened because Simerini reported it.
I agree that Simerini has part of the initial blame since they reported that the TC spat on the cross of the other student, which was not the case. The case should be investigated to see if the reporter intentionally "spiced up" the story.
But this can not excuse the TCs who are trying to use this event for political gains.
