Do Cypriot Youth from either side Socialise

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Some Greek Cypriots (of the age of Klik for example) assume that all Turkish Cypriots are disrespectful towards their human rights and that all of them support the occupation. This is not the case, but they are too immature to realize it.

I believe that good friendships can happen between people that respect each other. Without the required respect such "friendships" will not be real.

Respect is the key here.

I agree with all Klik said.

Im 17."Do we socialise with turks of our age?!" the answer is no.And to tell the truth the last thing i would want is having them taking over our clubs.

All I know, is that on Wednesday there's a demonstration against the fake "republic" in the north, and those Turks will not come, but stay home and celebrate. Then we call them Cypriots..

Enough said!

These kids are the future of Cyprus. They clearly hate TC's..

Am I wrong in thinking these kids like things as they are, perhaps take it one step further and close the borders?

Whats does this have to do with youths socializing?

first of all it presents implictily socialising as a crime.
second, cant you see the amazing difference between what this guy writes, and what part of our youth expressed in this thread ?

its a reality in cyprus that worries noone imo

I want a solution like everybody does,a FAIR one.And i want us all to live in peace. But u have to understand it will take some time!U cant expect everything to be great from day 1.We have to learn to respect eachtoher..

Anws,i dont understand y the educaton for them is free? The rights should be the same for all!Isnt enough that they live in our houses in occupied Cyp?!Now we are paying for their education as well!

And how do you expect us to want to be friends with them and respect them when they are still celebrating their "trnc" ?!Haha sorry but its a joke!

Well when have you known any Cypriot to care about what the paper, the church or anyone else says apart from themselves? So the paper represents it as illegal. If the paper said sex was illegal, do you think there would be less Cypriots on the beaches chasing tourists? I would think not. The only bad comment I have read so far comes from caudonovera and it is not surprising. He/she has made clear the way she feels plenty a times. Is he/she the only youth in Cyprus? I hope not. I have to be honest and say I have only met 2 TCs in real life and they were both adults. I couldn't so much socialize with them, they were like 50 years older than me. I was polite and respectful like my parents taught me to be to my Eldest no matter where they come from. I left Cyprus way before the borders opened, unfortunately. I would hope I am a youth-well I am 28. I never choose my friends according to their color, race, or national origin. Instead I go with stupid criteria like are they loyal, are they good people, are they kindhearted.... If the truth is that there is still as much hate as described, that we choose not to even consider the possibility, then it is very sad indeed.

do you honestly believe that the church and the newspapers (and by anyother i assume you mean political parties, family, school education ) dont affect people !!!!! e, what do you think about cypriots ? that we are in position to produce original (protogeni) thoughts ?
how can you deny the role of the media , in the way of thinking of any society ? i kindly ask you if you have the time to visit the newspaper phileleftheros everyday and read the part where people send letters (epistoles). you will be surprised how much nationalism / rasism / conservatism exist in this society.
besides i have already posted studies that show that these feelings are rising in the cypriot society and nobody cares. studies show that the number of people wanting partition is rising in the south as well (denktash is achieving his aims) , and that happens above all with younger gcs.
and if you have only seen caudonovera in here , i beg to disagree.

i didnot mention hte church but since you brought it up : did you read what the new archbischop said today ? and instaed of getting a big sihtir from the gc politicians , even christofias didnot have the guts to stand up against him.

i am really sorry but i am not that optimistic about our youth , even though i belong to it.

When they have grown up to believe that the other side is Evil and ready to kill what does anyone expect the youth to behave? Socialising with the Evil , the killer ? The GC youth have grown up with the picture of the evil TC and the evil Turk in their minds and so had the TCs (evil Greek)! What should anyone expect?

I am really disappointed at the level of hatred on both sides. I have to say since I joined the forum I see more hatred towards Turks than the Turkish Speaking Cypriots. Perhaps it is justified to some level given that Turkey invaded Cyprus in July of 1974.

I also appreciate the anger that cadaunovera has expressed in his repsonses .... I guess if someone invaded my homeland and forced me out of my family home and someone is living in without my consent I would be angry too. However, they have to live somewhere.

Having said this we need to begin to understand and respect each other. We have to begin somewhere. Your comment about we can't expect this to happen from day one well ..... day one is just the beginning. See day one as a day closer to getting back home.

As far as free education. I doubt it that the Engish School will be that generous to provide free education. However if it is happenning well may be its unfair .... but may be its another way for Cypriots to show that they are good people and that they can do the right thing ..... may be this will lead the Turkish Speaking Cypriots to voluntarily hand back your home mate.

Compassion and Love can move the world. Be a little more patient and things will be okay.

God Bless and May Allah be with us all.
