Do Cypriot Youth from either side Socialise

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Klik » Mon Nov 13, 2006 11:57 am

I didn't know that there were other schools that had that policy... The English School even overprotects them! The Cypriots there are not allowed to use Greek flags etc, the regular commemorations of Greek national holidays are wrecked and the national anthem is rarely sang!
I'm totally not influenced by school teachings, I'm probably one of the few... Most have changed their way of thinking due to what happened in 2003, which is bad in my opinion, as the school puppets them in their way... It's called propaganda.

I have nothing against the Turks living in Cyprus, I just don't like the idea of having them. I even have 2-3 friends living in the north... We never talk about Turkey etc, but when we do I can't stand it, as it's 1000% pro-Turkey! I'm sorry, but I can't live with Turkish illegal immigrants in my lands, however good they try to treat me. They violate my homes in the north which I've never seen and never want to see with them inside, and that's the common idea existing before their permission to come to Cyprus governed areas...

All I know, is that on Wednesday there's a demonstration against the fake "republic" in the north, and those Turks will not come, but stay home and celebrate. Then we call them Cypriots..

I lost my post and am tired am off to bed ...... but I see very little chance of unification with such attitudes. In my view Turkish Speaking Cypriots have as much right as Greek Speaking Cypriots to be living and participating in Cyprus' society. If you think my view is foolish or whatever that is okay that is your opinion and I am not going to try and change that.

Thank God for free speach and thought.

I do agree that Turks who immigrated to Cyprus after 1974 need to return to their homeland. However they tooare human beings and some consideration to their situation needs to be taken into account.

ie what if a Turk from Anatolia married a Turksih Speaking Cypriot woman whose family have been in Cyprus for 3-4 generations. Where does she goe, where does he go.

We cannot deny that with the advent of the Internet the world is becoming smaller and smaller in a sense and as such multicultural societies exist everywhere. Cyprus is one of them.

If Turkey instills fear in the region and its people and is supported by the major powers, lets not do the same by instilling fear and hatred in our young people.

To some extent the English school is another US propaganda and I do agree with Klik I do find cadaunovera's argument a bit disturbing though.

If you're at the Metahan gate at the right time in the evening you can see lots of GC cars driven by young men heading into the TRNC..... and if you happen to take the Lefkosa - Morphou road you'll see that they're mainly going to the 'nightclubs' that have sprung up along there - I'm told a number of Russian ladies are employed in them.... a real ethnic get-together eh?... how nice to see these young people from both sides enjoying themselves... I suppose they're playing snooker or cards or just sitting around chatting - still - great that at least some of the young GC's are happy to visit the North....but why don't they go to the clubs in the South? - surely they must be in fear of all those nasty Turkish people and soldiers that they were told about in school?

The criminals and the pimps are the first to cooperate. No doubt about that.

Sorry Piratis - not quite with you... are you talking about 'Cypriots' in general or expecting readers to assume you're talking about more specific ethnicity?
