American engineers at the Boeing Corporation were having trouble with their aircraft windshields keep breaking following a bird strike. In desperation, they sent a teleprinter message to their counterparts in British Aerospace for advice.
A reply was sent, stating that the British system of testing involved firing a chicken at the suspect glass to test whether it would withstand an impact. The Americans were delighted that they might, at last, have an answer to their dilemma, and requested that a "chicken gun" be sent over straight away. One such gun was duly despatched, and all went quiet for a couple of weeks, before a further teleprinter message was received from Boeing. It read "Still experiencing 99% breakages of windshield glass when hit by chickens." "Please advise on what we can do further".
The reply from British Aerospace was concise to say the least ...........
"Defrost chicken!"
