The Humane Society of the United States estimates that a pair of breeding cats and their offspring can exponentially produce over 400,000 cats in 7 years.
That IS the problem with feral/stray cats.

Unique Earthling, i think what Sotos might have meant is more referring to wild dogs, which could be dangerous running in packs and carrying disease such as rabies. At least that's my take on it.

The problem with stray cats is that they are hungry and need a cuddle.

I dont think so, i have read sotos's posts before and he is fearful of animals. We dont have rabies here, but Many cypriots are taught as children here that animals are dirty and diseased and dont go near them. And they grow up frightened of them. And dont understand them.

i am aware of how Sotos is regarding animals. i just don't think we should be so quick to jump on him. i didn't feel his comment was as ignorant as some he has made in the past regarding animals.

I'm not going to say anything bad about Sotos' posts but it is definitely true that a lot of the Cypriot children are taught that animals are dirty and diseased. I have no idea how they got this into their heads but it seems to be inherited from generation to generation...my boyfriends nephews are now growing up with a lot of cats because my mother-in-law is feeding them. She was afraid of cats her whole life but changed when we took in a couple of cats. Since then she has loved them. There's still problems with one of the nephews though because he still believes that the cats are dirty and it's obvious that he 'inherited' that opinion from his mother. But I'm glad that the children are now growing up with animals (there's a dog too), I believe it's healthy and the animals should be respected too.

 Ok. dogs never bite. That friend of mine that got beaten by a dog was imaginary. Dogs are very clean. You leave a dog alone, it will not shit on pavements and it will clean himself and always be clean. Whatever you say! Sorry but I have eyes and I can see. If the dogs are not taken care by humans they can become very dirty and leave dirt around, they can carry diseases and some kinds of dogs can be very dangerous. A dog can be kept clean by humans but they are not a clean animal by nature. What I say is the truth so don't teach me.

There are no bad dogs sotos only bad owners.. think about it. If a dogs hurt and frightened as a puppy it will grow up scared and bite, if a dogs stuck in a small cage and cant move away from its feaces and if its not cleaned daily it will end up dirty. Same as you would. Let me stick you in a small cage and see how clean you would be and how bored and angry you are. Let me feed you on crap and see how solid your feaces are, and how healthy you feel.. Bet you would bite everyone unless you were so frightened all you could do is cower and pee yourself. Wild dogs are not dirty because they can roam free, hunt and feed themselves, They are clean by nature its man that has interfered with this and man that has the responsibility to their animals to respect them and care for them.... Domesticated dogs usually starve and die especially after a hunter has dumped them in the hills after tying its legs together or shooting it. And please tell me what disease dogs can give you, because i work with over 200 dogs and handle them daily and i have never caught anything.
