Monthly Living costs-again.....(sorry!)

Postby zebedee » Fri Nov 10, 2006 12:28 pm

Before everyone moans "Oh No, not again!" I have used the search faclilty and all I can find are threads which soon wander off the main query abouts costs of living (the last one included the price of a prostitute!)
I understand these vary for everyone, but would someone mind helping me out here? I'm trying to budget in advance and its quite scary!Even if its just what you pay it would give me a feel for it. We're a family of 4 hoping to rent in a village outside paphos
Monthly
Electric- I can see there are some variations here!-
Installation of phone into rented house -
rental of phoneline with broadband connection-
Council tax -just a rough guess?
Water/sewerage rates (or is it metered?) family of 4 -
Health insurance for family of 4 - nothing fancy - in fact, do you really need it? I'd like your opinion.
Annual car tax-
annual (?)MOT-

Anything else I've forgotten?
Much appreciated!

Good idea Lisa - I would also be interested in any answers people can provide to your questions, especially electricity given some people seem to be paying well over a £100 a month.

Hello Snad - you said

council tax - 2 bed house - 75cy year

Did you mean a month rather than a year, seems quite low?

Hi zebedee get yourself and family over here save getting ripped off by the government over in the UK.
Electric average 25-30 PM
Phone and BB about 34 PM
Council tax 80 per year
Water 8-12 PM - metered all are out here
Health get the E121 will give you at least 18 months free health care. Plus out here our local hosp is superb.
car tax and ins you have had a reply.
Food is about the same price as the UK but if you shop around can save money. petrol 2/3 rds the price of the UK. Sunshine for 320 days of the year, lovely beaches and lovely fresh food.
Personal taxation 10.000 cy or 12000 gbp good eh.
Be aware Paphos is slightly more expensive than the East of the island.
Enjoy 8) 8)

Zebedee couple of questions for you:-
1. Whats the schools like on the east side of the island?
2. Whats employment like?
3. What air-port is closest?
