Monthly Living costs-again.....(sorry!)

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

If your talking about the little ones from the kiosk's, then I shouldn't think they would last long on for 7 hours a day. Probably about 4 days, if your lucky. I'm not sure about the big tanks of gas people use for central heating here. Maybe someone else could answer that.

Hmmm. Dunno. Whatever is used by those portable gas heaters (look about waist height) I've seen (Dalco site has a few costing about £50). Thought I would get a couple of them to keep my lounge warm (is a pretty big room). I was assuming in the winter I would need them on for about 2 hours in the morning (say 7 to 9) and about 4 or 5 hours in the evening (5 to 9 or 10).

Cheers

Don’t bother with the gas heaters – they smell and cause condensation. Plus you have to have a window open to provide enough ventilation.

Get the electric oil-filled radiators instead. They have timers and can be set-up just like a central heating system.

When we got here and it started getting colder we upgraded from fan heaters to using the split-unit air conditioners, to gas heaters and finally to the electric radiators. Luckily our new home has gas central heating but the electric oil-filled radiators are (IMHO) the best alternative.

Thats what we were planning on using in the beginning (you mean the thin ones?), but I heard they were quite expensive to run and everyone reckons the gas ones have better heat and are much cheaper to run. We want to get a few electric oil ones anyway so will see how it goes I reckon.
