Leigh - not sure if I can help you out here as we're moving to the Paphos area in the west so we've limited our searching to that area. We're also bringing our work with us so will be self employed - from what I've read/seen getting local work is really difficult and very low paid. We use Paphos airport.
Have found this board really useful, thanks everyone for your help!

How long do the gas bottles last? Personally I'll use it probably 7 hours a day. Also do they deliver the bottles to the door?

Cheers

To add to the questions about price, any idea what the rough costs would be for a 1300cc car to insure for a year, and can your no claims from the uk be included when getting insurance?

We insure our 1.2 Clio on 3rd party fire/theft for 100 per annum incl 2 named drivers & roadside recovery. Some insurance companies allow you to bring your no claims over. If you are bringing your car over from the UK some insurance companies won't give you fully comp until you've switched it over to Cypriot plates which can be an interesting experience!!

Its very simple to bring a car from the UK if you know what to bring in advance...

A scooby here is gonna cost you more than in the UK, so I would definitely consider bringing your car from uk... it costs about £400 shippin on a roll on roll off, and then about £200 to register..

If you prepare all your docs in advance, then you can get it duty free no problem..

I have a question for people who live in Cyprus.
Would you leave and move back to England or stay were you are?

Definitely stay!!

Why the hell would I want to go back to all the Violence, cant walk the streets at night anynore. Drug taking, its happening on most UK street corners these days. Taxed up to the hilt, by the UK government and the bloody horrible, miserable freezing weather.
Cyprus is not the paradise some people think it is, but give it me anyday towards the UK.

I'm not sure about going to Enlgand.. but Cyprus is getting very expensive to the point where we don't have the money to do things like we did back in the UK. I'm finding it a bit boring at times and having a career is next to impossible if you're not an EU member. The weather is lovely, the people are friendly (well most of them) and the food is great. It's a nice safe place to live if you're retired.

So anyone have more information on how long the gas bottles last (if you use them for say 7 hours a day)?

And no, stuff England (I'm Welsh; it's practically the law that I'm allowed to say that....). I work in Slough (shudder) and live in Bracknell (much better). No way I want to stay here any longer. So I'm coming over forever sunday after next. :) Luckily my family all live over there and the company I worked for (a software house that I resigned from) said I could do the same thing (as a consultant) for them in Cyprus. For the same wages. But 4 days a week. Good old tax should work out about the same as I was on here (nice 40% effort hurts). So 4 days a week in Cyprus for the same money I did 5 days a week in Slough (plus they pay for things like broadband and phones).... Oh, and no mortgage or rent either. Erm, nope, stuff England. :)

Cheers
