UK Residents: Cyprus for a long weekend?

Postby eracles » Tue Nov 07, 2006 2:51 pm

Hi, just wondering if any of you have ever done this. ie. left for cyprus on friday morning and come back monday. Is it crazy? I would like to do this in December sometime. I wish somebody would invent a teleportation machine then I could just go and see my folks after work :P

I did this a few years ago. Left Heathrow on BA flight Friday morning and came back Monday afternoon. Was a really good time.

I have done the weekend the opposite way around, also on BA from Heathrow...

Its better UK to Cyprus tho, as the flights are better timed...

Have been doing it for more than 3 years every month , get the cy 10.20 Friday night flight , after you have a good bottle of wine at the Caviar House stand in Heathrow with a little salmon , return on the 17.45 on Monday , or Tuesday as I'm doing this time. You tend to take every hour in and enjoy every minute. I spend time with family and relax from pressures of work. Once you have done it a few times its wonderful , the flight doesn't bother you at all.

For a BIG birthday recently we flew overnight Friday Birmingham to Paphos, then Wednesday mid-day Paphos to Manchester, which was a nice break.

Okay, how much does this cost approx? I would like to start doing this every other month or so (i know it's bad for the environment but the plane's taking miltiades anyway so i may as well!)

We once did a spur of the minute Christmas shopping trip to Augusta from the UK. Should have been three days, but got snowbound in Chicago, and had to suffer a Ramada hotel for the night, with vouchers for Breakfast and Lunch the next day, and free phone call to UK. Still, American Airlines could afford it! :-)
