Partition: The choice of ultra-nationalist fascists

Postby Sotos » Sun Nov 05, 2006 7:39 pm

JERUSALEM, Nov 5 (Reuters) - A far-right Israeli cabinet member said on Sunday ethnically divided Cyprus could serve as a model for a future peace settlement with the Palestinians.

"Trading territory and populations could help create a more homogeneous Jewish state," said Avigdor Lieberman, who has long proposed an agreement under which some Israeli Arab towns would come under Palestinian control.

He told Israel Radio that Cyprus, divided between Greek and Turkish sections since a 1974 war, "can serve as a model" for Israel.

More than 160,000 Greek Cypriots, as well as 60,000 Turkish Cypriots, were displaced in a Turkish invasion 32 years ago which followed a brief Greek-inspired coup. Numerous peace efforts have foundered.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who brought Lieberman and his ultranationalist Yisrael Beitenu party on board last week in a bid to shore up Israel's governing coalition, distanced himself from his new political ally's remarks.

"At the cabinet meeting, the prime minister said that Avigdor Lieberman's opinions about the Israeli Arab citizens are not his own views," said Olmert's spokeswoman, Miri Eisin.

"The prime minister stated that he has always been in favour of full and equal citizen rights for the Israeli Arab citizens and that they should be full citizens of the state of Israel," she said.

In the radio interview, Lieberman said he did not know why Palestinians "deserve a country clean of Jews" while Israel in the meantime was "turning into a binational state".

"If we want to maintain the character of a Jewish state there is no choice other than separation," he said.

Lieberman's remarks amounted to little more than a repeat of his party's platform, which also advocates annexing parts of the occupied West Bank.

But the comments prompted criticism from Israel's Arab minority, which makes up 20 percent of the country's population.

"This isn't a country only for the Jews," said Hashem Mahajneh, mayor of Umm el Fahm, one of the Arab communities in Israel that Lieberman has proposed come under Palestinian control.

Talat, Dektash and Erdogan are not alone. Many fascists around the world think like them!

partition is a good idea only if they keep the land they're entitled to and not a single acre more

Kurds existed in Kurdistan area long before any Turk appeared anywhere close.

Therefore Kurds want their liberation from the Turks, they don't want to steal the land of others or to be separated from others just because they are racists.

The reasons fascists want partition are:
1) They are racists
2) they want to keep land that does not belong to them.

Actually Piratis is right. I do not understand why Turkey insists on keeping Kurdistan. Just let the Kurds go. Once Turkey gets rid of the backward SouthEast the GDP per capita will double.

Turkey should disengage from Kurdistan, and instead concentrate all of its energy on territories that are actually Turkish such as Northern Cyprus, West Thrace and Rumelia.

And why northern Cyprus is any more Turkish than southern Cyprus or Bulgaria were also a Turkish minority exists?

Because the Turkish army illegally occupies it? Based on the same logic, most of Europe was German during WWII.

Or anywhere that a Turkish minority exists that area is Turkish? Then Turkey should also claim part of Germany as well.

It is this sick logic of yours that Europeans understood and they do not want to allow 1000s of Turks to freely come to their countries. Because then the Turks will claim the areas that they will settle and form a minority as their own.

Stop daydreaming, militades, you misguided fool. Islam is the true religion, don't you see. God be praised the day will come when the Pope will lead the friday sermon, and that ugly heap in Athens, which you call the Parthenon will become a mosque. With God's will you will enter the righ path.

bg_turk, you might be kidding, but the fact is that the ones that rule Turkey have not changed much since the middle ages.

Our churches in the occupied areas not only are turned into mosques, but to many other things, including stables.

I am not sure if we should be laughing or crying with the situation. It would be nice if everything was just a bad joke. Unfortunately it is very close to reality.
