Hey, the thing that seems a bit wrong to me is that it doesn't seem to mention any of the risks of buying in the North, and the fact that Cyprus is currently under illegal occupation...

I know!

It only says how wonderful it is. He is either going to remortgage his house in uk and lend money from the developer.

How scary is that.

I really like this bit in the FAQ'S -- takes some believing

The recent referendum confirmed the desire of Northern Cyprus to join the EU as part of a united Cyprus. As a result, Northern Cyprus is going to benefit from EU assistance, direct flights and likely recognition as an independent state. Turkey is also seeking admission to the EU, which it is highly likely to achieve. At present TRNC remains a duty free country with an open border to the EU making trade, tourism and access simple. It has its own democratically elected government, which has strict but sensible guidelines for land use and development.

Also another gem is the statement that the quickest way to get there is through Larnaca airport  ---- now that is taking the piss

So it seems...I'd really try and convince him to try a more, well 'legite' route..And if he's really set on buying in Northern Cyprus, to be really careful..I guess that's all you can say really...

Good Luck.. :)

That's why people end up making mistakes when it comes to buying in Northern Cyprus (not that it's a mistake to buy in Northern Cyprus, I mean when people end up buying abandoned GC property...that's the mistake...okay, shut up Natty! :) ), because they are simple on many occasions either misinformed, or not given enough information!

The most amazing thing about your property in north Cyprus is the price, which is still a fraction of other Mediterranean beachfront property locations.

And when an amazing price shows up there is gonna be a catch...

ie you dont own he land!

Its not me who you should be wishing good luck!

He hasn't done his homework at all and has not got a clue what he is doing, he wont be told and is only going to fall flat on his face - in a big way!

When I told him the price we paid for our pad he replied for £20k more I can purchase a 4 bed villa with private pool...the guy needs to see a doctor I think!

Simon, there is only so much you can tell people. In the end, they will do whatever they want to do. There are times, when you just need to let them do it, and if they must fall flat on their face. Some people, only learn that way...
