The government on Friday noted that Greece has not been invited by the Finnish EU presidency to any potential tripartite meeting in Helsinki convened to discuss the Cyprus issue

Turks: We want the Greeks in the talks.

Europeans: Why? The Greeks can send their ships to Turkey whenever they like.

in all all honesty i've never seen a nation to suffer from shortsightness at a drop of a hat

In the Financial Times news concerning the issue, it is stated “the irony is that today it is the Turkish Cypriots who are most enthusiastic about a settlement to end the division caused by the Turkish military invasion in 1974, while the Greek Cypriots - having rejected the Annan plan for a settlement in 2004 - seem least bothered.”

Recent opinion polls among Greek Cypriots show strong hostility to any federal solution, and growing support for effective separation of the two communities, the Financial Times said.

The newspaper also wrote, “Officials in Athens believe that if Turkey were forced to pull out of the membership talks, it could well end hopes for any Cyprus settlement for years.”

yeap everyones got it wrong except for the turks and jurno from the Financial Times. mate you are becoming a bore in a big way.

think about the following.
1...the EU only gave a date just to satisfy the US, thats all. do not start to interpret this as anything of signifigance because they also made turkey sign a document recognizing 25 members of the club. the opening of ports is the icing on the cake. turkey recognizes fully the roc everytime a vote is required and turkey like a good little puppy she is, she accepts it.

2...and in all honestly are you actually contamplating the power houses of the the EU are ready to hand ove the reigns and the crown jewels to a country that has the 2nd biggest IMF loan to this very day? are you that shortsighted?

just remember true democrasies were fought tooth and nail to be established, not by mimicking.

and the biggest question of them all is? would turkey give the kurds the same plan they want the tcs to have?

but as always you guys never stop to humour me with your simpleton comments. yeah its a christian club

why do you think the annan plan was fair? and would you have taken it if you were on the other side?

how stupid can you be. the UN plan itself violated each and every UN resolution regarding cyprus. plus it gave 50% of the government to 15% of the population . not to mention only a fraction of the GC land back.

how STUPID can someone be to accept that plan and how STUPID is it of you to mention it all the time like its something to brag about.

plus can you imagine what 50% of the government run by lowlife peasants will do to a country?
