You are absolutely right on all counts. The question I have been trying to ask is exactly how we go about securing a way for the north to catch up before intergration.

Here is an idea: You return some land, and you get a bit of trade and other financial help in return. The more you give, the more you get. In the end, you will catch up, and by the same time our refugees will be back to their homes, the occupation army out of Cyprus and all Cypriots will have all their rights.

What do you think?

I do not remember any such thread. Unless the "details" were the recognition of "trnc" or something similar.

What is important here is that GCs and TCs should rightfully have some things that due to the current situation they don't. Personally I don't have a problem to take it slow, as long as both GCs and TCs gradually take back their rights. (and the word rights here is important).

The return of Varosia in return for the opening of the Famagusta port under the UN for trade is I believe something along this lines. But it is rejected by the Turkish side.

A couple of posts away you even told us it's upto the Tcs (!!!!!!!!) to decide how much land they need to survive, in case partition would be an acceptable option by the GCs.

So perhaps you owe everybody an explanation: What is your real aim behind this topic?

Btw you seem to think in terms of the 60s. Today nothing works as it worked in the 60s.EVERYBODY demands for his rights and there are constant changes to secure those rights. It is a never ending process but I beleive we are not far away from any other EU nation. You asked a specific example about someone who applies for policeman.

The number one headline this weak in RoC is the statement of the chief of Police that he is" worried" by the huge percentage of women getting police jobs. Currently the rate of newly hired is 2 women to 1 man. Well everybody accuses the chief of being racist, but anyway do you know why so many women succed?
Because they are hired after sitting WRITTEN EXAMS man, and because today young boys dont study nothing at school. Only girls do study. We have a University here the so called "female University" of the Universe. Just go there have a look, and tell me how many male and how many female you see.

So if you TCs have not spoiled your boys to roam in the streets all day,and expect everything from their parents, but rather raised them to work and study hard at school, then most propably the TC young men will be the solution to the problems the chief of police now has.

Cyp how is his analogy racist? I find it a bit sexist but not racist. He did not say Tc boys suck he said Gc boys suck and pointed out that if TC parents are doing any better a job than the GC's then their children will succeed. I know pyrpolizer sets himself on fire sometimes, but don't read into stuff where there is nothing to read into.

God you are so naive, how will you guarantee that the exam results are evaluated correctly and that the board is not biased towards one community. We have seen this many times in Cyprus where the results are manipulated to suit the final aim which is recruiting GCs rather that TCs. Even if the exam were conducted fairly and the TC was also called up for an interview he could fail due his ethnic background, language, eye colour any stupid excuse and you could not object. The board conducting the exam is the key because if this board is made up of GCs, collectively they will be biased against TCs, how do you ensure this does not happen? and isn't this really the crux of the Cyprus problem?
