Postby Micheal » Mon Oct 30, 2006 8:25 pm

I own a trading company in my country; I want to move my business to Cyprus.
Really interested to stay in Limassol area
Is there anyone know about the procedure of establishing a company, and if it is a good idea to move there?

Hope anyone have a suggestion

get a good lawyer who has good knowledge of the proceedure or contact someone like Deloitte's, the accountants, who will set up a company for you with ease. They can do off shore or domestic.

Subject to your business, there are still some restrictions as to whether you can set up and whether you need Cyprus Directors. Deloittes will tell you. George Georgiou is a good contact in their Limassol office.

I am guessing that moving a whole business is not very easy. Especially if you already have a lot of clients and business partners in your country. When you come here you will have to start almost from zero!

Don't need to have Cypriot directors.

Thanks for all of your suggestion
First, I do not feel comfort to deal with lawyers’ specially big one to set up a business, all I need is a sole partnership not a big company, so I am not sure if I need a lawyer for that.
Hincyprus , If you have more details about off shore company, and if it is legal for foreigner to establish domestic sole partnership company , please advice

Do not worry Sotos , I am dealing with international trade, not domestic markets, so I do not need to find new customers, and start from Zero, and I do not have any partners here in my country,,,,, also I am still young 32 years old and single man, so it’s not a big deal even if I start from Zero

Twinkle, I am not Cypriot, I am not sure if It is a must to have Cypriot director or not, so if you have more details, please inform me

Thanks for all of you

The Republic of Cyprus is a European Union state so if you are yourself an EU citizen setting up your business should not be more difficult than setting it up on your home country. Now if you are not an EU citizen I suggest you get a lawyer and do a lot of research on how this works...

Even though you are not an EU citizen, you can set up an off shore company here on the island and it will not need a Cypriot Director.

As long as your "supplies or products" are not for use in Cyprus then "off shore" is the route to go. Many reasons particularly tax.......

For more up to date and correct information contact Deloitte. I am sure they will not make any charges for initial advice.

Good luck
