Yes, a number of the Turks of the north used to be Cypriots...
Point is, we cannot accept that act of treason. When those cowards exchanged their souls to become Muslim and Turks, they ceased to be Cypriots.
I really enjoy the part, when some people say that the Cyprus Independence Day(1st October 1960) is for all of the habitats of Cyprus("TC" and Cypriots....)
Funny thing is, that the Independence Day, like it or not, happened because of EOKA. I'm not of the opinion that they beat the British, I'm fully aware that they left by themselves. But without EOKA, we could have been like Hong Kong, have them for 50 more years, maybe still be under their command!
So, during the fight against the English, EOKA had to take care of another enemy at that time, that conspired with the English in order to get full command in the country. Those, my friends, were the so called Turkish Cypriots. Cypriots my ass...
Why do you think in the early 1960's Turks in the island died rapidly? EOKA's aim was to throw the English out, and kill all the Turks in the island. EOKA had many followers after the Independence, believing in the propaganda they told them. (I have had a lot of relatives involved, so don't say that I'm biased against it. I just don't agree with what happened)
So, how can the Cypriots that wanted to remove the English and Turks from the island, celebrate a day with their enemies? At a school in Nicosia, during the commemoration, a lot of things happened(there are Turks in the school as well...Private school, you know which I mean;))
EOKA B', was an attempt to complete EOKA's aims. EOKA B' was more succesful in my opinion than EOKA, for many reasons. Even if they gave the Turks the opportunity to capture half the island.
Overall, all those years of Ottoman occupation, we Cypriots have lost around 2.000.000 people. Over 1.500.000 were killed, around 100.000 betrayed their beliefs to live 'peacefully'(i hope they got what they deserved after death...) and the rest have moved out of the island in flee.
The Turks, ever since 1479(their first attack on the island i think), have become from 0 to 300.000... They were not immigrants, they were occupants. Big difference. We have a large number of Armenians in Cyprus, compared to other minorities, we understand why they are here, and even for other races in the island, they have no problem of being in here. They are immigrants, legal settlers, call them whatever you want. They do not want to rule the island, just live under our rules.
